Package holidays
Checked-in baggage
You’re entitled to a 15kg baggage allowance on our package holidays. Certain types of holiday come with a bigger allowance of 20kg – this is clearly shown whilst you’re booking if it applies.
Hand baggage
You can take 1 piece of hand baggage weighing up to 5kg and with maximum dimensions of 55x40x20cm. On some holidays you’re allowed 7kg – this will be clearly shown whilst you’re booking if it applies. Things like laptops, handbags and items bought at the airport must fit within your 1 piece of hand baggage. You must be able to lift your hand luggage into the overhead storage compartments yourself. These rules also apply if you’re carrying a Trunki case onboard.

Well, we've booked the same 3 star in Salou the last three years, first year was Thomson, however it them moved to First Choice, booking online the default is 20kg + 5kg you can however amend this and get 15kg + 5kg bringing the cost down, which is what we do, I'm guessing Thomson default to 20kg + 5kg knowing many people won't realise they are being charged the extra 5kg.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

you missed the bit about pooled luggage.
For Thomson Airways flights, you’re allowed to pool your luggage allowance with anyone else travelling on your booking. However, each bag can only weigh up to 23kg.
I read it as 15kg per person x 3 =45kg, luggage can be pooled with a max of 23kg so if OP is taking 2 cases one could weigh 23kg the other 22kg or am I reading it wrong?0 -

I didn't miss anything. It's in my earlier post # 19. I'm just repeating the info as there still seemed to be confusion.0 -

Two cases, one 20kg and the other 24kg.
Total 44kg
Max total weight of luggage allowed 45kg
Max for one piece of luggage 23kg
Move 2kg from the 24kg bag to the 20kg bag and you have two bags that each weigh less than 23kg and have a combined weight of less than 45kg
What have I missed?
The 20kg bag is absolutely full, no way will anything else fit it. I really didn't want to have 3 cases as didn't want hubby lugging 2 cases around and me 1 as he had a heart attack last year plus moving it to another case increases the weight as you have the weight of the 3rd case to take into account arrrggghhh0 -
So, take a kilo or two out of the case, surely you don't need everything you've packed, that's what we do to get the weight right, I mean, just how much clothing do you need for a week or 2 in Majorca high season?I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

Two cases for a family of 3 is doable. We did this for years. Sometimes you have to swap items to get weight balanced as things occupying the same space can be heavier/lighter. For us it's toiletries that are the heaviest so splitting amongst the cases helps.
Hand luggage can take charges, hairdryers, straighteners, liquids under 100ml, plus clothing.0 -

so just put a few more bits from your over-limit suitcase into one of your carry-on bags - or have a look at how much stuff you have packed and see if you can do without a couple of bits.
We are a family of 2 adults and one 12-year old, thinking about going away at the end of August for a week abroad. Its a Thomas Cook flight so our allowed luggage is 15kg per person, plus 5kg hand luggage each. Now, I know for a fact my daughter and I can easily do that (I often take her away for 5 days abroad with just hand luggage, no hold bags) but my OH will want to take his entire wardrobe with him, so no doubt he'll want to pay the extra £20 or so to have 20kg hold luggage instead of 15kg.0 -
I do also agree that 2 cases of a family of 3 is perfectly doable
. When my daughter was a baby and toddler, I would only take one case on holiday for me and her combined, 22kg maximum weight, because any more than that when you're juggling a baby and a pushchair is pretty stressful. The one case for us both was never an issue, even when we'd go away for a month or more.

This all seems like an awful lot of luggage for a holiday to Spain. My advice would be put everything in the cases then take out 50% of it and leave it at home. You'll still have enough stuff and you'll still enjoy your holiday.0
