We are off to Majorca on Sunday, there is 3 of us with a combined weight limit of 45kg. We are taking 2 cases, 1 weighs 20kg and the other approx 24kg however Thomson's website states that 1 piece of luggage cant weigh more than 23kg - how strict are they with this when you are within your weight limit overall. Also can telephone/tablet chargers be taken in hand luggage?

Yes, you can.
So not a problem if you have to move something. They were good with me, but that doesn't mean that everyone will have the same experience.0 -
We have travelled twice with Thomson recently both times we saw people being charged for overweight bags, they charge for everything they can.. Do you really need everything you are taking? Majorca has shops you can buy toiletries etc ( maybe you don't do this but many people take a huge bottle of shampoo or sunscreen and in a week you use maybe a quarter of it)
You should be OK with chargers in your hand luggage but airport security may want to see tablets powered up.0 -
The 23kg rule is because their baggage handlers won't take it, it's as simple as that. You'll need to see if you can move a kilo into the other bag, as you aren't actually over your weight allowance at the moment.0

just buy another case from sports direct or somewhere just as cheap.
problem solved.0 -
over 23kg is overweight with any airline (unless you are not travelling cattle class) so expect to be charged or move something, which should be easy to to do if one case only weighs 20kg0

Not in my case, but YMMV. Let's say I had 34kgs when my allowance was 25kgs.0 -
OP, is there any reason why you haven't taken the common sense approach and just moved some stuff from the overweight bag to the underweight bag?

read the post again, he only has 2 bags, 1 overweight and 1 bang on.
theres a big white elephant in the room screaming take 3 cases as thats what youve paid for!!
must be a wind up0 -
OK I've read it again.
Two cases, one 20kg and the other 24kg.
Total 44kg
Max total weight of luggage allowed 45kg
Max for one piece of luggage 23kg
Move 2kg from the 24kg bag to the 20kg bag and you have two bags that each weigh less than 23kg and have a combined weight of less than 45kg
What have I missed?0
