Can anybody else confirm that Asda polo shirts shrink when washed?

I need some really small polos for littl'un (size of age 2y) but am probably going to have to buy age 3y, so am interested in the shrinkage level!

I shop around and look for the bargains but for my three I have found I prefer different items from different places:

School - Logo Cardi / Sweater / tie

    Marks & Spencer - Pinafores / Trousers / Skirts / Shirts

    Sainsbury's - Gym trousers / gym rubbers / shorts / T shirts / Navy cardis

Asda/ Tesco - Polo shirts / Check dress / Shirts

The best quality by a mile has to be M&S, Although Asda pinafores lasted the year they looked a bit thin/shiny at the end. M&S are still good enough to pass on once they have been outgrown.

As for shoes - I have given up caring where I buy them from - Clarks, Hush puppies, Sketchers, Stores own.........they fail to last 6 months on either of my sons! DD is much better, her Sketchers lasted a full year.

No I rate them because they don't shrink on a normal 40 wash but would probably shrink down in a tumble dryer?

????? buttons are buttons... the only difference I have ever found with girls/boys polo shirts is the girls ones sometimes have a scalloped edging on the collar.

I'd am more amused by the unisex skirts lol

I don't mean the actual buttons themselves, I mean which side they are on, in that traditionally they are on different sides.
I'm pretty sure I have seen girlier polo shirts with scalloping and flower shaped buttons too but don't think much of them.....and being as DS is a boy anyhow :D.

I get DD/DS's school sweatshirts/hoodies/polo shirts, etc... from one of the three suppliers of badged stuff in town and they've lasted pretty well, even the names on the backs of the hoodies haven't worn off.

I also buy DS's school trousers from the school supplies shop in town as they're the only trousers that fit him without having to have the adjustable waists, which I don't like, especially in warmer weather, when they haven't got a vest on to stop the button rubbing their skin. I get his school shorts there too for the summer, same reason. they are a bit more expensive than the supermarkets (around £8 a pair) but they are very good quality, they last all year (unless he grows out of them) and believe me DS gives them a hammering! When I've bought adjustable waist trousers from M&S previously I find that the hems come down in a matter of weeks or less. I also find that if I buy black or navy work trousers for me from there.

I also buy DD's skirts from the same school shop, again a little more expensive but worth it for the same reason as DS, no need for adjustable waists, they actually fit! The only place I can get jersey trousers to fit her is Next online, the slim fit ones. Again, not the cheapest but they fit nicely and they're good quality.

I always get jean style trousers from Next. I find they are a really nice fit on my 2 who are very slim.
Have had supermarket ones in the past, but they always seemed very big and baggy and poor quality, so wore away at the knees easily.

Polo shirts/shirts from Next or M&S. Again, supermarket ones always seem to be a funny shape.

I voted other, as i I bought Aldi school uniform last year. (Instore in a couple of weeks time again)

Trousers were £1.50 a pair and have worn fantastically. No going thin in the crotch/knees and they come out the washing machine nearly dry and dont need ironing

I would say the polo shirts wore well too, however they werent that long in the body, so i dont know whether they shrunk in the tumble drier, or whether DD put on a growth spurt, as they didnt get tight around, just showed her belly, if she lifted her arms

I buy the school cardis/jumpers from the local school supplier, they don't have to have logos but they look smart and are good quality!

As I replace polos every term, I just buy those cheaply from asda or tesco. Shorts/skirts and trousers I get from Next or Debenhams as they are great quality, and unless grown out of last the year, with the exception of my middle daughter, and I get the jersey trousers from Asda, and even though they are only £5 a pair (I bought 3 pairs to rotate), they have just about lasted the school year!

I used to get it all from M&S where possible but found that DD's blouses were awful last time. When I looked at their school skirts they were all really, really short so I won't buy them. Not having DD going to school dressed like a slapper.
This year she goes to secondary school and the uniform blazers are sold in one shop. This shop also sells v neck jumpers, blouses, sports kit, trousers and skirts. I won't get her shoes from there as we have to devote a day to shoe shopping  but I will pay the extra couple of £s per item to get it all from there just so that I don't have to argue about the style of trousers with her :o.
DS, we just hunt until we find trousers which fit him. M&S are rubbish, they don't last five minutes. BHS don't last either. His last pairs have been from Sainsburys and Asda and they've lasted all year, the creases are still in the front and they haven't gone saggy at the knees or lost the hems. He's so skinny that we just let the elastic out of the waist when he grows so they stay by his ankles :o.

I got everything from Tesco last year, apart from the clarkes shoes, and everything lasted fine. I'm curious about the suggestion of Aldi though because it never occurred to me that they might sell uniform. I'll take a look when the holidays start.
