Now the school year is nearly over. I just wondered what everyone's experiences of the quality of uniforms were. Where did you buy from? Did they last a year? wash well? etc who did you think sold the best quality?
I purchased from sainsburys and tescos. The sainsburys polo shirts were not fantastic, I found the tesco ones to be much better. The trousers from both stores were good and washed better than the marks and spencers pair I had purchased in the sale.

I found Asda to be really poor quality to be honest, and was disappointed with them. The jumpers and cardigans needed replacing by Christmas last year.
My dd is just completing her second year wearing 2 M&S skirts I got for her - so I think that they last well.
And her Clark's shoes are not false economy either. They've lasted her the whole year, so I'll definitely get them again.
I've bought Sainsbury's and M&S for next year, with the school jumpers.Ninja Saving Turtle0 -
I got polo shirts from asda, they've lasted the year but shrunk ALOT in the wash straight away so are quite short and I got them 3 sizes bigger anyway, they also went grey very quickly.
Apart from that I am happy with everything I got from Asda, it has lasted well and all year, the skirts, trousers and pinafores as well as a cardigan.
Also DD's Clarkes shoes have lasted all year. Looking slightly tatty now but i've just polished them a few times to cover the scuffs. Very impressed with them.0 -
Both my son and my daughter's Clarks shoes have lasted all year, which I'm very pleased with. They look pretty tatty now, but I'm not changing them for the last week or so of term. I finder cheaper school shoes are a false economy now that their feet aren't growing as fast as they used to. I tend to buy them Skecher trainers, as I find these last too, although I do sometimes buy their trainers in Clarks.
The school sweatshirts that I got from the school don't wash well and stretch out of shape, so I will be needing to replace rather than pass down. Disappointing, but to be fair they are only around £10 each, which I think is far cheaper than some schools for the logo'd gear.
The white polo shirts were from Tesco, and will be ditched and replaced as they are now getting grubby looking. No problems with that, as they are cheap as chips, and my children (especially my son!) certainly have got them dirty enough over the year. It's only in the last month that they've started to look grubby, I guess because of the hot weather they've not been under a sweater all day.
School trousers/skirts I got from Tesco. All OK. I might try somewhere else for DS trousers next year as he has to wear a belt with Tesco ones as he's tall and skinny. DD fits into Tesco clothes much better as she is a more sturdy build. The only thing I didn't rate from Tesco was a pair of stretch grey bootleg school trousers for DD, which seemed to wear thin around the bum and knees fairly quickly.0 -
My DD is in secondary school, her trousers are from bhs and m&s, blouses from bhs. i bought them all at the start of the school year last year and they are all still in presentable condition.0

I was happy enough with the Asda polo shirts. The shrunk a bit lengthwise, but the fabric stayed white and soft. The Asda girls jersey trousers, as with previous years only lasted a couple of months, but at £3 a pair that wasn't too much of a problem. The woven fabric ones seem better quality, but not such a good fit. I got a couple of Sainsburys plain sweatshirts that were only about £2.50 and they shrank terribly - also became hard and faded within a couple of washes despite using colour-friendly detergent.
Clarks patent shoes have been hardwearing and kept their looks, so was happy with those.0 -
I have to buy cardigans/jumpers/school dresses from a special shop of uniforms which can be very expensive!! T-shirts, trousers and skirts I buy from Asda or M&S I have found that M&S T-shirts are the best quality so I highly recommend them as I was buying new ones nearly every other month because Asda's just weren't good quality! xxLife is too short... All of our uniform lasted the year except from the trousers we bought but thats because DD had a growth spurt last month and they sit at her ankles (so almost a year!)
Rest of the uniform - no problems!
Clarks shoes
Tesco polo t-shirts and checked pinafores

Asda trousers etc have been fine (albeit that ours are rakes so finding them long enough with a small waist is a nightmare!) - their polo shirts are poor - they shrink and they lose their colour so rather than pastel yellow look like a grey yellowy white. Unfortunately due to our local planners, its Asda, or somewhere more expensive.Adventure before Dementia!0

Sainsburys for shirts and skirts, asda for trousers and definitely M&S for polos, the only ones that last with wash. My son has worn this years the ones my DD worn two years ago and they still look perfect in shape and no stains. It helps they are unisex!0
