Good Morning :hello:
It's soooo dark in the mornings now - where's the incentive to crawl out of bed?? :rotfl:
Right, I am definitely aiming for a NSD today and an AF day - it's got to be no spend on alcohol this month now as we've another unexpected bill crop up (car part related) and basically, the 'social' budget is the only thing left to plunder - sigh. So if you don't see 30/31 AFD on my siggie by the end of October, then you know Greying's achieved an 'epic fail' :rotfl::(:o:D
I thought we were 'trialling' going AF this month to save a chunkachange to purchase something we 'wanted'. Turns out karma was preparing us to have a bit 'put by' for something we 'needed':(:rotfl:
Onwards and upwards though, I have the support of you lovelies on the DFW boards, so I am richer for that:D
Oh, and yes, DP has been encouraged to start a CU savings a/c for car repairs...... forms are in the post
Dinner this evening will be the Nigerian Peanut Butter stew with rice and the remainder of the (frozen) green beans. I've made this Madhur Jaffrey recipe before and I know I've talked about it on here, as I recall 7 Week Wonder had a bash at it
Thanks so very much for popping in, reading and commenting. It is greatly appreciated.
See y'all later.

Hi all:hello:
Sloping back home after meetings in London..do feel like a nap but unfortunately work beckons!the weather changing has certainly made me feel much more sluggish. No doubt about that and after a pretty clean few days (well 3!) I succumbed to a glass of vino yesterday
We are also big fans of our local CU..and of course here we have my beloved local currency too..the Bristol Pound..so I use that whenever I can to support our local businesses :T
Very impressed by the meals GP..we had a burger ensemble yesterday..think it's kedgeree this eve:TMFiT-T4 Member No. 96 - 2022 is my MF goal

Good Evening :hello:
Beanie - thank you for your cheery post for us all :T
Shovel Lad - how very nice to *see* you. Hump day indeed - we're also officially into the 2nd half of October - how'd that happen?
Brizzle - ta for popping in - you veritable gadabout you!Hope meetings in the 'big smoke' were productive. I've heard about the 'Bristol Pound', never had the chance to use it tho, as I've not been to Bristol - well, not as an adult anyways
Yes, I shall probably become such an advocate of community finance that I shall morph into a CU bore just now....:D I probably mentioned that we were due to have Jack's 9p burgers tomorrow, but I've just been catching up on her blog and I think I may give beetroot falafel a go instead. I've the final 2 beetroot (cooked) from the gardening parental to use up, and I've some cooked chickpeas, so.......
Today has been fine - well, the weather not so much that has mostly been  but on the whole the day 'done good'. The relevant parts for the car have been ordered. We've pulled a favour for fitting etc. So whilst the 'booze budget' has evaporated overnight :rotfl::rotfl: it does mean that the car can be put right, which will save more costly repairs in the long term :T (either that or we get shot of the dang thing)
Speaking of which, today has been a NSD (for me) and AF for both of us (you're gonna get bored hearing that one....) so I must update the totals.
Dinner this evening was Nigerian Peanut Stew (made with peanut butter), served with rice and the very last of the frozen green beans(we're only half way through the month ) It's a Madhur Jaffrey recipe, I've made loads of times before, if you fancy making it, please have a look at the blog of mse'r JESS as she's made the recipe in true MSE/OS stylee
Picture of my effort here
And if, Dear Reader you were to point out to me, 'Greying, you seem to be getting over-zealous with your economising, you're using *pixie* red kidney beans now'. I would smile, nod in agreement, and let you into my little secret = 1/2 a ton of aduki beans to get rid of after buying them 'cheap' from App Fo0ds. They are solid as bullets and only the pressure cooker can get them to the vaguely edible *crunchy* stage ................. :rotfl:So, cheap beans, sweetcorn cut off a cob donated by the gardening parental, sm*rtprice peanut butter and the dregs of the bag of frozen French beans, bought for 75p from mrT. Pretty frugal I think - and enough for snap tomorrow
So, all in all a good day. A day on which I am grateful for these 3 things;
the international postal service - a card I sent to a relative who has relocated to a 'far off land' came back to me today. Apparently, out of 100 houses, the postie was unable to deliver it to the right address........ so it came all the way back to me at no expense............... haven't received air mail for an age :rotfl:
personal communications - I've had 2 phonecalls and 2 texts from family/friends today - 2 giving information (one a money saving tip!!!:rotfl:) and 2 'how ya doing' type texts. I was grateful to receive them all.......
my storecupboard - things are going to be a bit squeaky tight financially at Greying Towers for the foreseeable future. Am I glad I've invested in a store cupboard of staples ........(although the aduki beans.... not so much :rotfl:)
Thank you so very much for popping by, reading, commenting and joining in. It means a very great deal to me and I greatly appreciate it. Ta
See y'all later.

Well done! Did you see TDQ's post on the tedsforzimbawe forum about the RTC underwear in mrT's. Of course, I realise that it is dependent on you having access to a reasonably sized mrT's (that has clothing) and for the items to be reduced. A £1 for a 7 pack apparently.....
Have you a H0me Barga*ns near you - or a B&M? I got the jotters from HB - 5 (lined) for 99p.
