Good Morning :hello:
Karma - it's good to have you 'back'. Not necessarily when you should of been in bed getting a restorative night's sleep tho Lady! But Great to see you none-the-less. I hope you kick the butt of this latest boogering virus - take care of yourself. You're needed here
And it was nice to *see* Hypno on the forum again - albeit for the wrong reasons.
Upsidedown Bear - you were right to mention Martin's comment on Taxi's thread. He gave a precious resource - his time. In a world of corporate whitewash and elusive, remote, untouchable 'powers that be' - it was a really nice touch
So, this morning...... I have already boogered my chances of a NSD - 'coz I spent some doshMemorygirl mentioned on her blog that L*dl have their 5kg onions for £1.49. I am running low on onions and was proposing to get some from mrT under their '2 for £3.50' deal - which would also of meant a 25 mile round trip to a mrT big enough to stock the deal. I've now got 10kg for £3 from a store just down the way and we had to drive in that direction this am anyway :money:
If anyone buys the 7.5kg bags of tatties from L*dl - I know they are not necessarily the cheapest way of getting tatties, but then not everyone has oodles of storage or the means of transporting bigger quantities - anyway - they have reduced the price to £3.50 per 7.5kg bag. They had put it up to £4.59 last week ...... I'm hopefully going to go to get a 25kg bag of wilja pots later on from a farm shop. Where to store them will be a problem though as the shed is stuffed full of [STRIKE]rubbish[/STRIKE] *saved* recycling opportunities ..........
I wandered back to Greying Towers (thankfully not carrying 10kg of onions, they are safely stowed in the car), and popped into mrM. I'll give their yeast a go - I've not used it before, but realistically, I'm no where near a mrS. Plus I bought a tin of treacle - one of the limited edition *trick or treacle* tins that T*te & lYle produce. I'd seen them on...... is Quince tree Thriftlady's blog? Anyway, Sue always manages to pick up the limited edition ones, but I'd never seen them in the store. But I did today, so I nabbed one. Parkin a go-go at Greying Towers I think
I also found 5p *roadkill* on my travels :j Roadkill is getting few and far between - either folks have darned up the holes in their pockets, or there just isn't the spare money about, or there are more MSE'rs in the vicinity of Greying Towers than I have been led to believe....... :rotfl:
Thankfully my sore throat has now passed. I'm on to the *docked dup dose* stage, which makes breathing fun..... still once I had dropped off to sleep last night, I slept right through - and certainly feel better for itI enjoyed walking back from the shops. I got hot and short of breath, but the fresh air was nice, so I'm glad I did it.
Today will be AF though, which is easy, as the money has been spent on a 'covered in grease' lump o' metal that I am assured helps the car to go in a forward direction :rotfl:
Dinner this evening will be veggie lasagne - better get the ratatouille filling out of the freezer..... hopefully with delicious tasting baked potatoes.....
Right, I'd better get going, as I've lots of chores to attend to and will be gadding about later this afternoon, so the sooner I start....
Thanks for popping by, reading and commenting. It is appreciated. Very much. By me.
See y'all later.

Good Evening :hello:
Hail, Dear Reader - went the day well with you?
I have had a super day.
I've even been feeling 'better' despite my cold. Fingers crossed that it goes away at this stage, rather than getting to the 'dripping tap' stage and then clearing away
The store cupboards are full of tatties and onions - we shall feast awhile yet I tell youActually, the 'store' money has proved invaluable, I wouldn't of been able to make my purchases today without it. I always 'buy' goods out of the store cupboard each month and put the money aside. It goes to replenish stocks - not necessarily 'like for like' but seems to work.
Dinner this evening was veggie lasagne, baked potato, carrots and sweetcorn. The carrots were from the gardening parental, I'd actually forgotten that I had them, but luckily, I had washed them and put them in the bottom of the fridge and they were perfectly fine. Very carroty tasting and nice and sweet too. I also defrosted 1 cob of sweetcorn, again from the gardening parental and we had that too. I've only 1 homegrown cob left in the freezer nowThe lasagne was replete with YS'd mushrooms and courgettes
Frugal fare indeed
Oh, and I couldn't resist making some really garlicky herby butter for the medicinal properties you understand..... to [STRIKE]slather[/STRIKE] put on the baked tatty.
To use the oven space, I also made a batch of chocolate buns, using the L*dl choc that was on offer last week. I also had to open the B0urnville cocoa powder that I bought from Ald* as there wasn't quite enough mrT EDV cocoa left. Interesting the stark contrast in colour of the cocoa. Perhaps it is true that you get what you pay for....... the buns smell lovely, but were put in the freezer as soon as they cooled, to avoid temptation......
We ate dinner watching a recording of the 'Transatlantic Sessions' a music programme that airs on BBC4. Wonderful. Superb musicianship, wonderful singing - an all-round 'feel good' prog. Wonderful setting too, in the Lodge on the edge of Loch Lomond in Argyll....... There was a song, sung in Gaelic, called 'Celebration of the Big Bonnet'. I'd defy anyone to not want to get up and dance to that - especially as it speeds up throughout the song.
Right, well, the 3 things I am grateful for today;
helping hands - we had a funny scenario where everyone fell over themselves to rush and help us at the farm today. Very funny to *stand back* and watch - but appreciated, none-the-less
Autumn - I'm minded that in different parts of the UK and in different parts of the world, seasons are often less distinct. But on our travels today, we saw wonderfully tinted trees in the landscape, wildfowl flying through an azure sky and a golden sun that tinted the stubble fields with a warm glow. Truly magnificent to see.
for friends - in RL and online. I witnessed someone surrounded by *family* today. They have never looked more alone or lost. I'm grateful I don't feel alone.
Thank you so very much for dropping in, reading and commenting. I greatly appreciate it.
See y'all later.

Hi honey! Yummy, tatties and onions - great mix
and your piccie up there looks lush, not frugal
Your day sounds lush as well. The highlight of my day was managing to get a shower, oops, which sounds boring, but I can't tell you how thankful I am to manage it. Oh, and I watched Strictly as well :T I want to shimmy again, like Susannah :j

Karmacat - be kind to yourself! You've achieved something today - no-one is grading as to 'interestingfullness', 'contribution to world peacefulness' or 'celebrittee scaleometerness' on this thread I can assure you. Coz I would of been boogered a long time since - let me tell ya
Not really into *strictly* - although I do absolutely love the dancing show for Red Nose Day - that I enjoy. However, I'm with you on the boogeying and shimmiying and jiggling - anything that makes a body feel like that is good watching/listening in my view
This time tomorrow Pipster will be doing just the same on the dancefloor with her Mr Flowers........:T
Take care you!

Good Morning :hello:
Thank you Karma, Beanie and BoB for popping by. Very nice to *see* you.
Well an early start for us this morning and we've spent money, so can't claim a NSD. Still, we've an airing cupboard of dry clothes, so no complaints really. Still, it is getting tight on the NSD, I'm still on 12 and there are only 11 days left in October.
Still, there are a lot of chores to attend to today, so there'll be no more opportunity to spend today at least
Lunch will be a mixed root vegetable soup. I've some tired parsnips and a deceased sweet potato to resuscitate and a HG swede to accommodate in something. So soup it is!
Dinner will have to be something other than what is on the plan as it is too similar to the falafel that we had the other evening. Variety is everything if you are to avoid monotony - even on a budget
Today our thoughts are very much with Pippi, Mr Flowers and the assembled clan FloweryMcFlowers. Here's very much hoping that all the care and attention to detail that has gone into planning Wellifest 2013 pays dividends and that you all have a swell time.
Thanks for popping in, reading and commenting. I very much appreciate it.
See y'all later.

Good Evening :hello:
How's the day been for you all? Mine's been pretty OK.
I can claim a AFD - but you kinda knew I was going to say that didn't you?
We took a bag of tatties to the gardening and non-gardening parentals place. So they get to eat for a little whileWe were rewarded with a cuppa, an orange kit-kat and 4 HG leeks
In addition, on the way there, DP spotted some 'free' apples - before me! (My, your indoctrination is working after all this time Dr Greying.... I am impressed..... :rotfl:- said in whatever 'baddie' voiceover of your choosing :rotfl:) So on the way back, we stopped and got 8 cooking apples - and I still left some for any other MSE'rs in the vicinity too
Two of the leeks have been transformed into leek and tattie soup - I estimate about 2 x snap portions. The potatoes were out of one of the bags we bought yesterday - wise to check through a big bag as unfortunately a rogue blighty one had got in and had oozed a bit over surrounding tatties. The rotten one has been disposed of and the others were washed and then used up - rather than left in the bag and the rot spreading.
The apples are awaiting 'transformation' - but smell wonderful
The mixed veg soup for lunch worked well. Although I only managed to use about half of the last (small) sweet potato as it had really started to rot. Note to self, don't hang on to things thinking that you'll buy a lime to make 'that' soup - get on and use stuff! Everything else took well to chopping, sizzling and blending and we had a tasty soup - DP did comment on the 'powerful' taste of swede.......... But it was niceWe had 2 massive bowlfuls and there is some left over for a snap portion. we had toasted cheese sarnies with the soup, with the last of the harissa paste slathered on the melted cheese - totally yum!
I was totally stuffed from lunch - we ate late due to going to see the parentals - so didn't really want much for dinner. But seen as DP is a bottomless pit, we ended up having pesto pasta. Not a roaring success - I used some pasta that I have been avoiding using, because it goes all claggy in the water. And it performed true to typeI bought it from that well known online food seller of outdated food stuffs and was mislead by it being called 'cous cous' when it in fact was pasta shaped like cous cous. Only 3 more 500g bags to get through...... Still, it probably [STRIKE]glued[/STRIKE] filled a hole up
So, no piccys - I reckon it would of been too 'beige' to capture anyway :rotfl: Even *wannabee personal chefs* get it wrong sometimes
:D Although I should add, that whilst the texture was 'difficult' the taste was fine - clean plates, no wastage
Today I am grateful for these 3 things;
Good Turns - it's nice to be the 'recipient' and often even nicer and more satisfying to be the 'doer'. However, we're up on the 'receiving scale' by a ratio of 2:1 today
sunrise - and the transformation into the day..... although birds are well noisy when it's still dark aren't they?? :rotfl:
family and friends - who were in my heart today, whether I was in the same location as them, or not
Thank you so very much for popping by, reading and joining in. It is greatly appreciated by me.
See y'all later.

Hi Greying! Yep no interestingness here, no sirree
:D:D I've watched *such* a lot of crap tv these last few weeks. Mind you, I just saw the beagle brigade at Miami International Airport rescue some finches that were being smuggled into American to fight!!! True - apparently they get sold for $1,000 a time
but those little ones were rescued by a cute looking beagle with a coat on, so there you go.

Good Morning :hello:Hi Greying!
Pippi posted a pic of her bridal bouquet on facebook
very autumny dramatic colours, very beautiful.
Awww, alas my baked bean tin and attached string do not reach to the bookoffacePerhaps it will be posted on the blog at a later date :j I'd love to see EH's photos
Well a dark and damp start here (in the weather) at Greying Towers. But the snap is packed up and we're raring (?) to go
Today should be a NSD and will be AF.
Dinner this evening will be the veggie version of sherba and flatbread. I have made it before, but I am going to use up the last of the ancient split peas that I had all but given up on until I discovered that the pressure cooker could redeem themSo we're on a headstart to 'frugal' in the title of tonight's meal already :j
Sub committee No. 5 will be in session this evening
Right, I'd best get a wriggle on, I'm in danger of running late.
Thank you for dropping by, reading and commenting. I appreciate it greatly.
See y'all later.
