Good Morning :hello:GP there is a fab thread over in the 'Oldstyle' forum that I'm sure will be just up your street. It's called NOT BUYING IT ! 2015- A consumer holiday. It was started by 'Slowdown' . Worth a read. Sorry on tablet no link
Ay up Ellidee - I've found it already - followed from the startVery much up my street, you've got me pegged
:D:D I do wish that it was required reading for the greater population. Sometimes, all you need is for someone to say, 'STOP - and THINK',and the scales fall away, and folk see what utter chaos commercialism and consumerism brings to their lives. Thanks for thinking of me, and for everyone else, the link is HERE
Monday morning again, and we've already had the Band Aid toon on the radio, so it's edging towards Chrimbo!
Today should be a NSD.
Dinner this evening is currently looking a bit parsimonious, so I am going to have to have a quick rethink about that, either now, or later
Have a great day, and where you can, find the Joy in life - I shall have my radar on
Thanks for popping in, reading and telling us all about good stuff:D:D I appreciate it more than you will ever know
See y'all later.

A few years ago I read a book called Not Buying It, which is a complete load of tosh. I gave it three stars on Amazon, but really I should have given it one. I far preferred Kath Kelly's How I Lived on a Pound a Day.
I've had years of not buying toiletries, years of not buying clothes, I have most of what I need but not all.
This year I splashed out on disability aids - a new shopping trolley I can both sit and lean heavily on, a rollator that carries a bit of shopping and £300 worth of repairs to one of the great loves of my life, my trike. Approx £450 in total; it should have been a lot more but for the kindness of the bike repair shop and great bargains on both the trolley and rollator.
The trike has a name, though I don't usually use it, it's Rossa, as he is red. Someone asked me the other week if he had a name and I admitted he did. (Their trike is Fred.) I would be slightly worried about using it in public as people think my owning the trike is eccentric enough.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

My electric bike is called Anni her make is Ansmann, motor home was Liffi (Lifestyle) and caravan is Purdie (Pursuit), for some reason the car has not been awarded a name, although all my previous ones had one:D
As for being considered eccentric for riding a trike, if and when I have to resort to a mobility scooter I have my name down for one of those that looks like a Harley Davison:rotfl: I think it would go well with pink streaked grey hair, stripey socks and walking boots which is my regular winter look:D
Joy today = visit to see my mum and 4 Goldfinches feeding together in garden:D:D:D:D:D= very muddy roads and jet wash not in operation!

Greying_Pilgrim wrote: »Dinner this evening was a 'new' to me recipe. I think that it is a keeper, although I did not use soy milk in my version - and I have to say...... I'm not entirely sure what it would add....... However, I did use the stick blender to make it a little thicker/different texture - it didn't need it, but I did it anyway. Anyway, if you would like to have a bash, the recipe was Chickpea and Turnip Stew with Ethiopian Spices. For accuracy, it should be noted that I used 'Swedish' turnip and that I have watched part of an ABBA documentary tonight
:rotfl: Served with boiled rice and the remains of the frozen broccoli and green beans. Picture here;
The recipe is cheap and cheerful - I used a 29p tin of chickpeas from H0me bargins, but would have used dried, soaked and cooked chickpeas had I been more organisedIt's a keeper and it'll go in my recipe index
What a lovely post. thank you. I'm also inspired to try this recipe tomorrow.OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

I am here in spirit but my body and eyelids are not keeping up at the minute. Need to pep up but I think I am ready to settle down for a week or twos relaxation with no work, nursery and allsorts to think of!
Big hugs GP. xx

Hey Hey! Good Morning :hello:
Burning the candle at both ends at the mo to get things finishedSo apologies for absence.
Dinner last night was a Caribbean inspired stew that I've made before, and luckily had stuck a 2 person portion in the freezerServed with Basmati rice.
Dinner this evening will be soup for *Thrifty Tuesday*
Joy yesterday was from a) nabbing my NSD :j and b) I can't elaborate, but basically, someone *not* doing something, put a whole different spin on the day - contentment all round
Thank you so much for popping in - I have read your comments and I'm grateful to you all
See y'all later.

Hello Greying and chums. I hope you have all had a good Tuesday! Three sleeps to go to my Christmas break and Pirin the puppy collection day!! This term has been a tough transition but very rewarding and I'm absolutely pooped, hence I haven't contributed for a while. I read all your posts every night though and am with you in spirit.
DD and I have finished Christmas shopping and I get paid on the 22nd which means I will enter the new year without debt for the first time in seven years. I am pleased and relieved!! Just need to resist the sales which should be easy as we want for nothing.
With all your help I've come on such a long way this year. Thank you one and all!!With family, friends and pets (or any combination of them) life will be fine!
