Greying_Pilgrim wrote: »greenbee - the thing that annoys me with my current (pun not intended
) company is that I submit my readings online on a regular weekly basis. They know exactly how much I use, as do I. So why when the gas meter reader came around, they chose to use a reading that was 2 weeks out of date, I do not know. I should, in theory be only paying for what I use. If we have a mild winter again, it'll be the same useage for 3 years - 2010 changed a bit, as did everyones.
How the meter reader managed to get a 2-week-old reading is a mystery, since they're supposed to record the reading they see in front of them. But unless you're on a tariff where you are contracted to provide your own reading they will ALWAYS use the meter reader's data in preference to yours. And unless the tariff is set up for exact billing based on meter readings, they'll continue to average out your DD.
Also, your weekly meter readings will be annoying them. When I worked for a utility company I spent time working with various departments from energy trading to debt collection and everything in between. Apparently my weekly readings were a PITA as the system wasn't set up for those kind of volumes! So if you want accurate billing you need to find a provider and a tariff that give you what you need - the utility company won't automatically use your readings just because you submit them.
If you want to record and track your consumption independently of your supplier (and this means you can keep ongoing records even if you are changing supplier regularly) use something like http://www.imeasure.org.uk/0 -

Hello all chums! I've been reading but haven't popped in for a while. I'm glad everyone seems well!!
I too am really impressed with Mr L, it'll be our first Christmas shopping there and it has so many lovely treats in it. We've road tested the butter fudge which is deffo going to be bought in for the celebrations. Nom nom. I'm afraid sainsbobs has lost us completely as I'm so fed up with wandering g aimlessly choosing between too many versions of the same item while k owing that I'm being horrifically overcharged for the privilege. I've cut my food bill from 55 to 30 per week for me and DD over the last month and even she is a convert. It's nice to shop in a small supermercado and strangely I prefer not having oodles.of.choice.
That's my rant over folks! The other thing I am doing is going teetotal which is going to be a tough challenge. I've got into really bad habits and in any case alcohol doesn't go with anti depressants. They don't work as well if you drink and I can't risk that. Depression being very unpleasant to say the least. I reckon it'll take me a few months to get there but it's the next thing on my self improvement list so here goes!
It's lovely to post again, I'm off for a lovely soak in my newly tiled bathroom. Only taken five years to finish! There's even a blind up at the window. All mod cons here dontcha know!!With family, friends and pets (or any combination of them) life will be fine!

Good Evening :hello:
I had just got to the last sentence of a HUGE post...... and pressed what I thought was 'return'..... and MSE threw me off.......
HUMPF! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
greenbee - I'm sure I'm a PITABut I arrived home to Greying Towers to 2 missives from the power company - one telling me all about my tariff..... um, OK, and one that contained 2 little cards..... so I could send them a meter reading! :rotfl: So in a 14 day period, they have had 3 meter readings, and their meter reader has had a look at the outdoor gas meter...... I've filled in the forms and will pop them in the post tomorrow
Upsidedown Bear - I think it is great that the lion remembered the humans - they must have treated him well, animals ain't daft. But I do think that the Aerosmith track was just pure class......
Hopefuljoy - take care youAnything we can do (within our circle of control) to keep healthy has got to be a good thing imho.
I snagged a NSD :j
I wittered on at length about tons of other stuff, but now I'm just gonna leave you with a snap of us tea;
A 'melange'of; spicy colourful cabbage (Reza Mohammed recipe), Aubergine Bhuna (close to Memorygirl's version, but no coconut or green beans), Chickpea Chasni (leftover from Saturday is strictly curry Murray and using up some of the - now 1 day out of date - YS'd yoghurt I bought yesterday) and then finally, a small portion of rice.
It was actually more colourful than the pic suggests - a combination of poor light and camera options meant I could only do green 'bias' or orange 'bias' - orange was slightly more true to life..... Given that it was 'leftovers' and brought together on the spot, it was a lovely meal - even DP conceded that it was a cheery, festive plate of food that would not look out of place if served up on Christmas Day.......... ( :j ) :rotfl:
Today I am grateful for these 3 things;
that DP finally made a decision about something and followed though - it wasn't easy, and is probably a 'no-win' situation anyway.....
that 'cliques' ultimately show themselves up..... for what they are.......
for a lovely, frugal dinner
Thank you so much for popping in, reading and joining in. Mucho, mucho appreciated, and I never tire of thanking you for your support - YOU'RE ALL GRAND
See y'all later.

Then if it did happen :eek: just "paste" it into another reply.
Does that make sense? Makes sense to me0
