That's why I'm now on a tariff with exact billing. If I submit a meter reading in a given window before my billing date (they text and email reminders) I'm billed for the number of units used between the last reading and this one. I've been on this tariff for several years now, and although it isn't the cheapest, it makes the most sense for me.

Greebee - can I ask which company this tariff is with? - sounds better than our quarterly billing which is always estimated as they only check our meter once a year!
    4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)
(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)
    ...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)
New projection - 14 YEARS 10 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 15 mths)
Psst...I may have started a diary!

It's the EnergySmart add-on for British Gas. Other suppliers may do the same.
  • If you haven't already seen this you might need tissues. OK, I needed tissues :o

Just found the full version :)

I can understand why the short version I posted earlier has had over 18 million views - putting the Aerosmith song "I don't want to miss a thing" with it was pure genius :)

For anyone planning to watch either.

  • I can only find a luxury blancmange recipe SS :rotfl: no melange's anywhere.

INOD (why do I always imagine you nodding sagely when I type that?) - I do an excellent boiled ham which is then basted with honey and dijon mustard and baked for 10 minutes. Problem is, there are no leftovers. My daughter can eat her own bodyweight in ham...! I will have a good think about making a back up ham :D

  • For me, the ham is the highlight as opposed to the turkey. Leftover carrot, parsnip, sprouts and ham equals a happy Boxing Day.

Just popping in - not caught up yet, may wait until tomorrow. Returned from hospital at 5pm complete with new hip which was put in last Thursday- love it but terrified that I will do something to mess it up, so many ways I am not allowed to move.

Internet has finally moved in with us but the phone will only make outgoing calls atm - had to leave DS3 to deal with it and I think he thought his responsibility stopped at letting the man in the house.

Like the custard although I have actually had it a couple times during my stay including as a tart, though still not convinced that their pastry was 'suitable for diabetics'.

  • Good Morning :hello:

Oh my goodness, you turn your back and watch a bit of :footie: and there are 14+ posts on ya thread :D:D:D

I've read all posts, but not explored any links. Forgive me, I'll catch up :D What I do want to say though, is how wonderfully supportive, as a bunch, y'all are. Not only just to me - and you know how much I appreciate THAT :D:D:D, but to each other too. Thank you, it makes such a refreshing change to see folk being nice and kind, just *because*. Not to further careers, get included in the will or get invited along on *popular gal's* hen do....... :D

greenbee - the thing that annoys me with my current (pun not intended :D) company is that I submit my readings online on a regular weekly basis. They know exactly how much I use, as do I. So why when the gas meter reader came around, they chose to use a reading that was 2 weeks out of date, I do not know. I should, in theory be only paying for what I use. If we have a mild winter again, it'll be the same useage for 3 years - 2010 changed a bit, as did everyones.

supersaver - I took the melange and luxury out in the rain and I'll never have that recipe again......... :p Took so long to bake it an' all......... :rotfl:

mothernerd - You've done it! WHOOP! Yes, I remember from the Gardening Parental's ops about the moving/sitting/picking up etc. But worth following the advice of the physios's because the first one settled in better than the second one (complacency set in...). and someone that I know that had a hip replacement done, and who would have followed every instruction to the letter, is still up and sprightly and you'd never know that they'd had it done. I really hope that your recovery goes well and that you are looked after properly by those around you. Keep us up to date with progress! :D

So I spent money yesterday. And I just have to say, 'which one of you guy's hired a charabanc, filled it with MSE'rs and went 'orf to mrL to hoooooover up all the mini-stollen before I had chance to get anywhere near the place.... mmmm? I asked the very nice lad in there if they had any, and he said he thought they were out, looked where I had been looking and said they hoped to have more in, but he couldn't guarantee :( There was a load of Christmas foods on a trolley - precariously stacked to think it was only 'cling film' holding it all upright. But I noticed that stuff was just chucked on top of each other. They had loads of the 2 stollens in the shop (apple & poppy seed?), and yet there were more boxes stacked on the trolley, which were all crushed due to the weight on top - what a waste.

    I didn't get kale, as I dropped on some YS'd avocados - 4 for 55p - so I made a version of Heidi's Californian Barley Bowl with a leftover leek, some savoy cabbage (YS'd 25p), brown lentils, 3 of the avocadoes (the 4th was rock hard and inedible, but the unit cost per avocado was still only 18p each, which was very good value for ready to eat avocadoes - whatever time of year) some YS'd natural yoghurt (25p instead of 45p for some set yoghurt from Rotherham, made with British Milk :D), and then loads of seeds and nuts to top it off. Pic here;

Right, well, I'd better shift a tail-feather. We enjoyed the footy last night - thought it a good match worthy of both sides. Very, very entertaining :D

I'll be going for a NSD today. Spent up pretty much yesterday.

Thanks for popping by, reading and joining in. And above all, for the support that you give :D Mucho mucho appreciated.

    See y'all later.
