No judgement at all Hopefuljoy! The most important thing is that, wherever your little dog comes from, he is going to have a fabulous home for life with you - he is a lucky pup! If you are beginners to dogs can I make one more suggestion? That you sign up for a puppy class with a qualified trainer who uses reward based training. The Association of Pet Dog Trainers assesses its members (both practical and theoretical assessment) and all subscribe to a code of conduct to only use kind, fair and effective methods. You can find a local APDT trainer in your area at http://www.apdt.co.uk/dog-owners/local-dog-trainers. Another good organisation specifically for puppy classes is Puppy School - again tutors are all trained and monitored. You can find a local Puppy School tutor at http://www.puppyschool.co.uk/.

Hope am not overstepping the mark but as a dog trainer myself I see the damage that can be caused by bad trainers who use inappropriate methods with young puppies. There is no regulation by law so anyone can set up as a dog trainer even if they have no experience or qualifications to do so. At least these two organisations give you confidence that the trainer will know what they are doing and will do it without using force, fear or pain. :)

    Seconded! :D

I'm a firm believer that all households should make decisions about any expenditure or choices soley on the basis of how it impacts on them, not what other people *think* - so Hopefuljoy - you are safe here :D

Right, I really am aiming for a NSD today! :D

Dinner this evening is 'Soupsand....' and I shall be aiming for 'Feisty Soup' (Ms Monroe's recipe) and hopefully some scones, so that I can have the oven on to make a crumble with the 'free' windfall apples I picked up the other day. Crumble topping ready, so that should just be an assembly job :D

I shall love you and leave you, have a great day all.

Thanks for popping in, reading and commenting. Always appreciated :D

    See y'all later.

I'm taking the bags thing seriously :) I use a shopping trolley if I go to the supermercado in person, but deliveries, and other shops, I collect all the bags I can - I use them to put rubbish in the bin. I don't want to have to pay for bags to put my rubbish in :rotfl: just one of the ways I don't spend :D

Hope everyone has a good day :)

We already pay 5p a bag - for ALL bags from ALL stores. England will soon catch up with rest of UK sometime next year I think. I 'stashed' lots of carrier bags before we went over to paying for bags ( or should I say back to paying? I am sure as a a child I remember going shopping and having to pay for carrier bags...........?) Anyway I stashed because we too used carrier bags to line our kitchen bin. when I replaced kitchen bin after over 25 years of faithful service the carrier bags no longer fitted neatly so I now buy bags on a roll. I have used up the stash.......they dont last long as they begin to degrade.

We need a reason to post on here???? Oh lawks - I just thought I could come on here and witter a bit, and then wander off again...... Oh dear, oh dear.... oh dear, oh dear  *snort* at mrT *needing* to verify your mrW bag though :rotfl:

  • Hello Greying and chums! I have a very loudly purring black cat (Rambo, who is actually female and tiny) lying across me as I laze around, bliss!:) Maddiemay and Mizmir you are wonderful, thank you for your lovely kind posts. I am a real worrier in RL when it comes to big human related issues (and dogs and cats are people too). Other practical things don't phase me at all but anything where I'm responsible for a person tends to cause nerves.

The websites on training look fab Mizmir. :rotfl:We have been reading a lot but there's no substitute for real people showing us what to do. If you train in sussex please let me know....:)

Today I am so thankful to "know" everyone on your thread Greying. You are each and everyone so kind and caring. Thank you!:T:T:T
