Thank YOU Greying for such a fab diary. I love reading it, I love your photos, your recipes (I've just ordered a Lebanese cookbook, not MSE I know but cookbooks are my 'thang' lol) and your positiveness. I'm so glad that keeping a diary has been beneficial to you, and others I'm sure, as it most definitely has been for me.
I promise to try and be a little more obvious with my support in future.

My DH caught me adding oats to a savoury mince this week and refused to eat it... I was so mad I didn't tell him that he's had it loads of times before. I'll just have to continue being "considerably more sneaky" (as per a cartoon I used to have pinned up.

Good morning, all, thank you for the link, l will make the scrapple today and persuade dgs it is 'real food' . Little darling graduates from primary school this evening, must attend with big white hankie (cry, surrender, who can tell?)
I have no idea where the phrase 'padding can' comes from, but it is fairly common usage locally, will ask various oldies.
Don't need any food shopping today, and, as the rain appears to have stopped, I may get into the wilderness and de-jungle a bit.0 -
Good Morning, good morning
:hello:
i'm trying ever so hard not to slump into a grump here at Greying Towers. We've suffered yet another delay with a tradesperson, are we ever going to get any of these projects started let alone finished?????
I keep telling myself it is because we are using decent, good folk who are in demand. If we'd hired J. Wayne wannabees, then they'd of been *in & out* by now......... And we would have suffered the first electrical shock or found half the wall on the floor after shutting the door to the room in which the baby was sleeping...................
Ho Hum.
Just feel that we are in a vortex. We are going around and around and will never be able to leave/sell/rent out Greying Towers
I must have been really norty in a previous life. Wonder what I did?:rotfl:
Ho Hum.
satchmo - you poor thing! We human beings are a well silly lot. What we don't see, we don't give any consideration to. I mean, how many of us will have eaten food that 5 minutes beforehand was being furiously scraped up off the kitchen floor? And there we are waxing lyrical to our fellow diners about it's yumminess whilst the chef goes slightly pink at the other end of the table......... :rotfl:
muddywhitechicken - lovely to have you back - and I'm enjoying your pics/descriptionsThank you for popping in
little_sweetie - DD sounds like a switched on kinda gal :T I hope they *prepare for the worst, but receive the best*
Pippi & rtandon
wishus - How did the paneer turn out? I don't think it was MWC's fella that wouldn't eat his oats - he's a true rugger supporting Scot - I rather think it is in his DNA to eat oatsIt was satchmo that was reporting probs
Ayeshalush :j:j - HELLO and WELCOME:D Now that you've de-lurked, you're not allowed to slink back into lurkdom - OK? Again, thank you for all your support this last year
beanie - lovely to *see* you - I had noted you were quiet over the w/end. Hope all is well?
supersaver -
mrsinvisible - in theory, you make the scrapple, cook it (in the oven) and then let it cool (preferably overnight) and then fry the slices. I think the cooling/setting will just make it easier to cut, so if you need it today, then just try to cool/set it for as long as you can. Given that you fry it, I think your DGS is going to L.O.V.E it!Let us know how you get on
Graduating Primary School - oh my!
Right, well, I've caught up, but I'm still behind..... :rotfl:
I'm all at 6's and 7's. But we're still here and have our health. That is all that matters
I've no idea what to make for dinner, I've run out of ingredients and the housekeeping budgetAfter spending yesterday though, I'll aim for a NSD today. The TV guide can wait.
I'd better go, before I'm late.
Thanks for popping by, reading and commenting. You know that I appreciate it. Greatly
See y'all later.

No doubt you'll be posting a pic of a delicious looking plate of food later on. Considering that you are on a very tight budget, your meals always look amazing. I am not a vegetarian but do eat a lot of vegetarian meals and the pics you post inspire to have even more.
I find dealing with any tradespeople hard work these days, even the good ones. 9 times out of 10, and I'm not exaggerating, they are either very late or don't turn up at all without even a phone call to keep you informed. Very frustrating at times, but once all the work is complete it will have been worth it.
I had to goggle scrapple and unfortunately the description I clicked on first did not make it sound in the least bit appetising, references to mush and semi-congealed loaf are examples lol, so I moved on to a different website. It sounds like a really good way to make meat go a long way. I wouldn't mind giving it a go as I do like polenta/cornmeal, however the last time I made it I spilled a little on the worktop but didn't notice until I was clearing up after dinner. It was stuck solid, it took me nearly a year (no word of a lie lol) to chip it off and left a yellow stain on the worktop.
Oops, I've just written an essay, you'll be telling me to go back into lurkdom soon(using IE11 so smilies not working
)
