hiya, been reading but not posting, still trying to keep all costs down, but family/holiday/equipment breakdowns keep rearing up and adding up! However, on the personal side of things, only spends have been on a pack of oranges and a punnet of strawberries. (mine are at least a month off ready). Still loving the dahl and am going to try one of your lovely looking curries tonight too. thanks for your inspiration, and your enthusiasm. xx

    Good Morning :hello:

Hello Hopefuljoy - great to hear your progress :D Now come on, your DD won't have learnt cost cutting out of thin air - I'm sure that it is team-work :D And if your learn things from her, well that is all good eh? :D I love learning new things, and don't mind who teaches me :D:D Hence why I'm sure that I get more *out* of MSE than I ever put back in! :D

Oh, I hear you on the frittering. I've said it before, but it is worth repeating, when I started this diary, I thought that I was good at budgeting, was frugal, that we didn't have much *stuff*, etc etc. And yet in 11 months, I have made improvements to the budget, saved money, donated so much *stuff* to charity, it beggars belief....... So keep going with the *anti-fritter* campaign, it'll pay you nothing but dividends :D

mrsinvisible - I've seen you passing through, but wonderful to hear from you too :D Ah, I do get a tadge enthusiastic about food don't I?? ...... :rotfl: Have a great day! :D

    Dinner last night =

    Dinner tonight = haven't a Scoo b doo.................. :rotfl:

Today will be a spends day, but hopefully just on items that are budgeted for :)

Right, I best get up and at 'em, otherwise I'll never get ahead and the day will run away from me :D

Thank you as ever for contributing to this thread. It is greatly appreciated, by me. Always. :D

    See y'all later.

I thought that I had posted this recipe on the thread before, and I just tried to find the relevant post, but to no avail, however, I did find a post where I talked about having soda farls for brekkie slathered in garlic butter leftover from the night before - Shhhh! :shhh: Don't nobody tell EH, lest she thinks I'm well weird or something ............. :rotfl:

 EH - so glad you are back safe, sound and solvent :D So very much agree about the pleasure that can be felt from not awaiting the cc hangover - hope we can emulate your budgetary brilliance on our hols just now :D

Nothing weird about that - sounds perfectly reasonable to me! ;)

And I rather think you WILL be exercising your usual budgetary brilliance on your hols...ours remember wasn't frugal in the least - we just do a LOT of saving in advance - we put aside more for that trip each month than we spend on food....and it is worth. Every. Penny! :D

Our dinner last night was meant to include avocado, but in spite of FEELING ripe, the little blighter most decidedly wasn't. Gah!

    Good Morning :hello:

Thank you for all your kind comments regarding our meals. I have to admit, the colourfulness of the plate appeals to me, and as I've said, it seems to make the meal more enjoyable somehow :D

I am currently rushing around trying to do 100 things at once, so apologies for sporadic posting.

Dinner last night was Harira (soup), which I've made before, so didn't take a pic. However, it is interesting that it is a colourful soup, with tomatoes, lentils, chickpeas, turmeric, celery, (red) onion etc, and although it is a middle-eastern dish, I was looking at it in the saucepan last night and was thinking about Rick Stein's 'Spain' series and how he talked about food echoing the colours of the landscape - and of the Spanish flag. This is a soup that could easily remind you of spain.......

I spent money yesterday, so can't claim a NSD - but I may well squeak one today :D

I have no idea what is for dinner, but I will have the oven on because I've made some bread dough to make into rolls......

Right, better dash. Running a bit late.

Thanks for popping by and supporting me. I greatly appreciate it.

    See y'all later.

Thanks for your encouragement Greying! I have been cheesed off with myself as I've overspent already. This is turning out to be a real learning process which makes me admire all of you who've been doing it for years all the more.:j I was really good at managing money before I married and rebelled against his financial control after we left. So I am going to stop criticising myself and just get on with learning again! :)

As ever your food looks delicious!! Lentil plunge day is tomorrow for me and DD. She's lacking iron at the moment and I'm trying to get more into her. She's veggie so we both need to learn about balancing the diet. :D

Learn seems to be my word of the day! I much prefer the word perambulation though! Just off to perambulate through the day! Also get to know the body language of everyone around you. I've made a study of it so I now know when men and even women are interested in me. It's a real boost to the confidence!! Have fun everyone. I shall be marking gcse scripts again. Hurrah!!:rotfl:

    Good Morning :hello:

Ah, I'm not doing a very good job of keeping up this diary at the mo am I? This will be my last entry for a while, I've a full-on next couple of days, and then I shall be away for a wee while, wave watching, walking and scarfing cake (knew the alliteration couldn't last :p)

Yesterday was quite affecting. I met someone for the first time, who had been rendered very unwell by contracting an illness through going about their normal employ. It was something that would have been difficult to legislate against safety-wise, no-one was really to blame as such, it was just one of those situations. This person's life seems to have been turned completely upside down, and I can only imagine the impact on their family. The fact that they obviously had a great character, determination and resolve probably meant that they were getting better sooner than anticipated by the health professionals, but there was clearly still a long recovery period to complete. It made me very grateful for all that I have, I hugged DP a little tighter last night, and the meeting made me more determined than ever to keep with our project, and keep 'Team Greying' on track. Life is to be enjoyed, as much as you can, for as long as you can.

Our holiday accommodation is all paid for, and we've a spending budget, which, whilst not massive, is available :D Just like EH we hope to have a fabulous time, without a cc hangover to come back to.

Hopefuljoy - I hope that the lentil dish works out well for you today :D

brizzie - I see the Severn shed has changed chefs, this recipe was from when Raviv Hadad was head chef. I really must get to explore your fair city, it looks well funky :D

Thank you so much for reading, commenting and joining in with this diary. I continue to appreciate it.

    See y'all later.
