    Hey Hopefuljoy - crossposted with ya :D

    Oooh, well, you can take the floor and tell us all about the dishes you make with the lentils - excellent. Are they the larger green lentils - sometimes called 'continental lentils' or are they the small 'lentilles verte' or Puy style lentil?

    Can't wait to hear all about your veggie ventures :D

    HERE beanie - the oranges might be OK for 69p, but not a lot else tempting me.

    Hi Greying and all:)

    Thank you so much for taking the time to find the poppadum link - was so excited I tried it straight away - hey presto - tasty and non greasy - and fun to watch too - we all squatted peering at it through the glass as it puffed up - quite mesmerising lol.... And obviously cheaper, cleaner and quicker :):)

    Also thanks for the recipe link - I've been buying curried veg paneer burger things from Asder for my pack-up but these look like just the jobee:)

    Mmm super 6 - I'm new to this so will have to keep an eye out - I'm currently jumping camp from Asder to Lidl but Aldi is en-route:) ;)

    Hopefully when you read this England will have caught up and won !! :)

    Sarah:)

    Hi there GO, they are the continental ones... I think they might be it overpriced at 2.80 for 500g at sonsbees. I'm giving them a whirl anyhow! Am enjoying not watching the world cup I'm afraid, not a great sports fan but want us to win anyhow!
    With family, friends and pets (or any combination of them) life will be fine!

    Oh gawd GP, I'm now on a 'Google' for how to make poppadoms from scratch.. I suspect that'll be way out of my expertise though, and maybe one for when I have a day off work with no other plans, lol

    Good Evening :hello:

    sunnyskies - I now have a picture of *family sunnyskies* clustered around t'microwave, watching a poppadum puff fer entertainment............ :p:D I'm glad it works - I mean, I saw Jaymee do it on TV, but I have to say, I've not done it myself. But if it works, then brillo, and you can bet that I'll have a go myself now that you have said that it works - THANK YOU :D

    I think you may like the Scheherazade casserole. The only thing to bear in mind, is that our American friends term different things casserole - I think of liquid when I think of casserole, but this resembles...... um, more a nice, moist bean roast???? I'm probably not selling it well, but made well, it is nice. And bear in mind, you can use different beans - including chickpeas (I've made that version once - YUM!)

    And I ain't discussing the footy further..................... :(

    Hopefuljoy - whilst I will say that the lentils were a *little pricey* and you can possibly find cheaper - don't let that put you off making something YUM with them :D My original thought is for cottage pie, but of course it is the wrong time of the year for that - despite the weather's recent attempts to thwart us. But I've at the back of my mind a nice recipe....... I'll have to trawl my memory banks, but perhaps give you a pointer - but of course, you may already have an idea of something to make - or perhaps DD has? :D

    beanie - you're welcome love, got the oranges myself today, 7 Valencia oranges from Spain, 69p - gets the thumbs up from me, juicy too :D

    shortie - I'm not sure I would make poppadums from scratch....... um, I think sunnyskies bought a packet of uncooked ones, I think I would do the same....... might be easier???

    Today has been marvellous, helped in no small part by the lovely weather :D

    I cannot claim a NSD. I spent money, but it was on *budgeted for things* and also will contribute towards our hols, so I think I did OK expenditure-wise today :D

    Dinner this evening had to reflect the weather, so I pulled up *another* Buddha bowl........ sorry ...... But I think to be fair, this dish was *based* on the Buddha bowl concept, rather than rigidly following its rules :)

    We had a meditteranean inspired BB - with pearl barley, black olive and tomato sauce, topped with rocket, fresh tomato and mozzarella slices, fresh parsley and hazelnuts. My homage to all things *Italiano* :D Picture here;

    004_zpsebcead85.jpg

    As you can imagine, this is *made up* as I went along, but the only thing that I would do differently, was to add more salt, particularly to the cheese and tomato - if you were able to use HG sun-ripened tomatoes, this possibly would be unnecessary :D

    It was certainly *right* for this evening's weather, which is pavement splitting sunshine :D

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    People who give a **** - we seem to be in a minority :cool:

    for knowledgeable people who will take the time to validate your thoughts - I appreciate it massively, especially when I think I'm right, but am just unsure....... :D

    that boring auld planning, can lead to so much (holiday) fun........ :D

    Thanks for popping by, reading and pitching in. Always mucho appreciated by me :D

    Now, just in case you thought that our *mains* for dinner was a little light, I'm away to dish up rhubarb crumble and yoghurt :D

    See y'all later.

    Hi there:)

    I quite agree regarding the 'casserole' I did wonder about consistency! I have some chickpeas in the fridge waiting for a job and some feta - hey presto - will give it a go:) hmmm just had a thought - possibility of adding pesto, that's your lovely 'Italian' dinner on my mind:)

    Yes, shortie they were ready-made and you can buy then with different seasonings and in very cute tiny size too:) (I don't think it would be worth the time/effort to try and make them as they are quite reasonably priced )

    Enjoy what's left of the evening:)
