Living on next to nought - is that the key?

Today I was glad about
1) free jazz around the town,
2) finding the church I wanted to visit, even though I thought it would be a 15 minute walk and it took me 40 minutes
3) a sunny evening
4) a beautiful view
5) a super simple dinner of roasted veg with sausages, yum
6) rather more than my fair share of red wine, hick
7) friends in the box
8) an independent nature
9) finally living the life I dreamt of
Fabulous list! Thank you for sharing that, and I agree with Pippi, No. 9 is rather fantastic, isn't it! :T

Good morning, Greying, and friends,
I hope you had a brilliant weekend despite all the wind. Luckily, our bit of garden suffered no damage...my tatties, carrots & parsnips are well and happy
This might be my last post (or two) for a few days as we are taking our camper off to Suffolk on Wednesday to visit my sister and explore a part of the country we are very unfamiliar with. We might not have internet access..... I haven't seen Sis for about 5 years so we have a lot of catching up to do.....
Have a great day xSealed Pot Challenge #012

Good Evening :hello:
Thank you lovely people for keeping the thread warm whilst I've been awol.
INOD - I don't mind the wind so much if it's in context. Eg if I'm by the coast, I know that it'll be windy - and I too often find it exhilarating - I've the video of us in a force 8 or 9 gale in Prussia Cove to prove it! At least we were walking and togged up - we got passed by a jogger! :rotfl:
Pippi - I have to say I probably am not an 'island' dweller at heart, I would miss trees too much and I would get fed up of wind all the time. Mind you, I'd have the freshest, driest washing in the locale! Love a bit of wind dried laundry me
EH - I definitely don't worry about me 'locks' or me 'do' - but I have to say that a knitted bonnet does absolutely nowt for me - and anything else is prone to flying off! All is definitely A OK with me and DP - I was sorry to hear about mrEH's unfortunate accident thoughOuch!
supersaver - ta for dropping in, lovely to *see* ya
satchmo truly contented - that's what comes through in your list - and I'll add my name to the chorus of YAY to No. 9
Right, sooooo here I am. It's been a bit of a weekend of two halves if I'm honest. DP and I are fine, we've worked really hard, but we also had to call a halt to a situation that has been dragging on and on. It may set back our plans for vacating Greying Towers (but then again it may not - too early to determine) but the right decision was made. Just not nice for it to have happened is all
Still, as you'll all know, a time of endings also brings forth new beginnings, and as I'm fantastic at starting things, but crap at goodbyes, this is probably a good thing. Onwards and Upwards for Team Greying:D
The first bit of fab news is that the car has been fixed :j It has come back and we've used it, and it seems completely different, so hopefully the new part has fixed the problem. The second bit of good news is that the problem has been fixed for slightly less than a week's wages - the alternative issue would have cost a good dollop of a month's wages to fix  So, there is sufficient money in the 'car repair' fund to cover it - no need to even dip into the *emergency* fund :j
Being confined to barracks meant that Team Greying has pushed on with operation upgrade at Greying Towers. We achieved a lot - and exhausted ourselves in the process! Thank goodness for freezer based ready meals!!! :rotfl::j
Isn't it fab to have much more good news to report than bad :j
DP and I have just had a sub-committee No 5 meeting - they are working so well again, and it is so satisfying to see how much stuff on our list has been crossed off as accomplished since we started down this route
I can claim a NSD for Saturday and one for today - I did spend yesterday, and I'll freely admit, beer was bought for the workers, and yes, I know that it is supposed to be no buying alcohol May, but frankly, we'd earnt a glass, and the money came out of the development fund - not the social/grocery money. I did buy coffee (out of the grocery money) as well, so definitely a spendy day.
We've now eaten 4 of the 5 ready meals I've already prepared - this has also freed up space in the freezer, so I can crack on with making the other 2 items for the RM 'stash'You will not be surprised to learn, Dear Reader, given the weather that we are having, that no salads have been consumed recently...... :rotfl:
Today I am grateful for these 3 things;
Team Greying - in accord
for HM 'ready meals' - we had another tonightDue to variable weather making it difficult to know what to cook!
for *friends in the box* and their ongoing support -:D
Thank you very much for popping in, reading and commenting. I continue to be grateful
See y'all later.

GreyingWe have been busy preparing and packing up the van ready for an early start on Wed but I can't resist popping back to read posts! DH has asked me to confirm we are only going for a week not 6 months as he thinks I have packed too many clothes :rotfl: :rotfl: The trouble is my Sis is 10 years older than me and very elegant but I am more a jeans & trainers girl now. I like my comfort. I have to cover all eventualities
Greying it warms my heart to know that your car has been repaired in such a satisfactory manner. Treasure that garage/mechanic.....:TSealed Pot Challenge #012

Happy holidays L_sweetie
Greying dear chum it saddens me to hear you head doesn't favour a knitted bunnet.
I have to confess though there are a few good drying days here on the isles but other days its not safe to pop it out as it might end up in Norway!
YAY for ready meals - I'm down to one bag of soup atm but will make up a few wee things from the 'fridge dwellers' to make sure we eek it all out.
I'm glad that the committee meetings are fruitful and also are followed by beer. If you like beer of course!Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

Such good news about the car Greying.

I'm glad that the committee meetings are fruitful and also are followed by beer. If you like beer of course! Nope, the hard work was followed by beer, the committee meetings feature a cuppa tea
little_sweetie - I'm with you on the casual attire - I can't do 'elegant'Oh yes, definitely treasure the trades when you get a good one. Wish we could say the same about the trades we now need for Greying Towers.
Fortune - lovely to *see* you. I was thinking of you on Sunday - we finally caught up with Gardeners World, and they were at Malvern Spring Show  How on earth is it time for that already  But they were interviewing a garden designer who was featuring red campion in his garden - took me right back to your beautiful painting
So. Tuesday.
You'll be surprised (not) to learn that DP has woken in a grump - bliss and joy
Today will be a spendy day, I've the TV guide to get and a lemon.
Dinner will probably be Californian Barley Bowl - unless, of course, we have snow today............:p
Right, I'd better get a wiggle on, I'm a bit behind.
See y'all later.
Thanks for popping by, reading and commenting.
