Made me laugh listening to Chris Evans on the radio on Friday morning talking about the various breeds of haggis, Veggie of course, then the "Common MacSween" and of course all the various "rare breed" ones! :rotfl:🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thank you for the lovely welcome Greying. I just know I'm going to enjoy this thread.
As for the downsizing, it kind of evolved of it's own accord once we suddenly realised that our lovely 3 bedroom, bought from new house (25 years previously) needed lots of money spending on it (which we just didn't have). It needed new windows (double glazed to reduce traffic noise) a new bathroom (once fashionable Pampas colour) and a new shower room makeover. So....we found a little place in the country within a 10 minute walk to the village and put our house on the market. We had a few hairy moments when our buyer lost the sale on her own house within a couple of days of signing the paperwork on ours and an embarrassing visit to the charity shop to buy back our own kitchen table! The charity shop people were very kind and offered to give it back under the circumstances but we declined and made a small payment anyway. Luckily, another couple quickly snapped up our house and we were off on a new adventure with a little money in the bank as a safety net. We love it here. The only downside is in not having much of a garden in which to grow our veg so we have been rescuing large pots from the skip with a view to growing something (potatoes, at least) in a big pot on the back steps, oh and we brought our strawberry plants with us which are still thriving.
As I said before, I'm a rubbish cook and an even worse gardener but watch this space. If only I had room for some chickens.....

Good Morning :hello:
Sorry for the no-show last night. Let's just say that the sub-committee No. 5 meeting was a complete wash-out and I was spitting feathers at DP. Sitting looking like a rabbit in the headlights is not an option if we are to move forward with our quest. We're floundering with this big style at the moment, and DP has disappointed royally.
Let's move on.
mizmir - lovely to *see* you and a name I recognise from MSE long timeI hope that your shingles boogers off quickly and that your health and vitality restores itself pronto! Thank you for dropping by
EH - *rollseyessmiley* - Haggii eat fortescue rubra rubra, nibble on heather and sip spring water - I thought everyone knew thatwell, that's the mainland flocks mind, have no idea what the wild ones roving about the islands nibble on....... :rotfl:I would of thought that the leg length differential would of made it difficult to hunt *big game* anyhoo???? :rotfl:
And YES, as you're inspiring me (and plenty of others, I'm sure) you'd better keep it up:D:D
Pippi - lovely to *see* you as ever. So not even homemade beans paired with egg???? I'm not a huge fan of the tinned ones, as they are always too sweet.
little_sweetie - thanks for that. I assume you let the buyer decide what bathroom suite to put in etc, didn't do the work yourself and then sell? I'm wondering if we have bitten off more than we can chew. I'm sorely tempted to just send this place to auction at this precise moment in time
Dinner last night was Nigerian peanut stew. Photo here;
Recipe can be found HERE - this is the blog of an MSE'r, I've forgotten her username on here, but I know she is on the grocery challenge and her mum read's Elaine's blog, coz I've seen her reference her daughter's blog #proudmummyI didn't use sweetcorn as I had none, so substituted with green beans. There is also copped up cauliflower in there. I hadn't any red pepper, but had the brain wave that there was some in a jar of pickled veg I had. So fished it out and put it in the stew. I fished the cauli out, rinsed it - the vinegar was strooonnnng - and chopped it up finely and popped it in #makedowithwhatyahave
Yesterday was a NSD, today may be the same.
Right, gotta dash. Sorry for 'grump'. Hopefully normal service will resume tonight.
Thanks for dropping in, reading and commenting. You know I appreciate it.
See y'all later.

Morning Greying, I'll be giving that recipe a go - interestingly yours looks better with the green beans than the sweet corn so will follow your substitution

Good morning all,
little_sweetie - thanks for that. I assume you let the buyer decide what bathroom suite to put in etc, didn't do the work yourself and then sell? I'm wondering if we have bitten off more than we can chew. I'm sorely tempted to just send this place to auction at this precise moment in time :(
We didn't do any of the work before selling, Greying, as we had neither the money or the expertise to do the work ourselves and our choice of bathroom suite etc might not have been the buyer's choice and therefore a waste. The young couple who bought it had lots of ideas of their own and within weeks of moving in the windows were replaced and the old bathroom suite sitting on the drive! We didn't have to reduce the selling price either as they were quite happy to have our old washing machine, a sofa & the kitchen table & chairs thrown in for free. The only thing I really miss in our new place is the dishwasher but that's a whole other story
Keep your chin up GP I'm sure things will work out well, it's just very stressful at the moment.
Thanks for the new recipe link, it looks amazing :T

Looks a lovely meal.
