Good Evening :hello:
I just lost a huge post, as I was on my last *grateful* IE stopped working and closed and refreshed the page........
So.........
Can I just say how overwhelmed I am at all of you popping in and offering such supportive posts. I'm truly humbled:D
Beanie - thank you for starting us off in such a cheery fashion this morning
Tilly- glad you can use the recipeThanks everso for popping in.
Piq - with all that is going on in your world at the moment, I am truly humbled that you have taken the time to come onto my thread and write such a supportive post. Thank you, and I'm glad that I raised a giggle - no, I don't suppose it was that pretty to see :rotfl:
Karma - thank you as ever, for your support. And yes, resolution has been reached. I think DP realised that he could be doing more, and took the initiative to get in contact with one of the tradespeople, that we are currently waiting on, today.
little_sweetie - thank you - that is most interesting, and ties in with a house sale near to here. The pics on the web showed a nicely decorated house (not to my taste, but nonetheless, contemporary and I should imagine pretty expensive) the buyer came along and immediately ripped everything out, bathroom, windows (even though they were quite new DG), kitchen and decorated from top to bottom. So yes, there is no point trying to second guess what your buyer will like/dislike
Rtandon - DP and I have been together for yonks, but recently he's been great and coming up with ideas/suggestions and taking the initiative. All I saw last night was regression to a time that I thought had passed, when I used to have to make all the decisions - and you can imagine what the first thing was that I heard if anything went wrong.......Still, I think he's realised that maybe he could of done better - he's a different person today :j
Bob - I know of using the phrase to mean thirsty, but in our family, it is generally used to mean someone is a 'bit hissed orf' at summatLovely to *see* you.
So, today turned out pretty well. And I have spent so much time smiling and laughing - perhaps the gods realised that they sent the carp down the wrong tube last night and spent today making amends.
I spent money today, so won't be claiming a NSD - but I picked up some YS'd stuff - not 10p bargains, but good enough and stuff that I need, in addition to the TV guide etc.
I found 7p *roadkill* a 5p and a tuppence :j after all the miles I have covered of late, they were both found within several hundred yards of Greying Towers :rotfl:
I was the right side of town to call into the 'pennies for pant1es' shop. I noticed that they bought books when I was in there last week. I had to ask the guy to repeat what he said, as I thought that I had misheard. But no, I heard him right, they pay 4p per book....... 4p! I realise that they are expecting books that will be the equivalent of a holey sock that will be pulped into insulation for houses..... but 4p! They ain't having my nigellas for 4p
I had two people from the same organisation express precisely the same sentiment about something to me. They did it quite independently and I just found it very funny - as it was nothing to do with protocol/rules or regulations, just opinion
I managed to *rehome* an item of clothing. It's de-cluttered my chest of drawers a little, and will hopefully be of use to someone at a forthcoming event (it's an item branded with an organisation logo)
DP is currently stomping about because the tradesperson hasn't got back to him either........ :rotfl:
Dinner this evening was a little bit of a *bodge*. Anyone would think we're hurtling toward the end of the month or something :rotfl: We ended up having black-eyed bean and root veg stew with HM potato cakes. Photo here;
And no, Dear Reader, a portion did not consist of 6 potato cakes, they were all the cakes made from making a half mixture of THIS recipe. Hurrah for bero :j I added ajwain seed (lightly crushed) into the mixture - and it was brill, I'll do that againas the mash was leftover and frozen from another meal and the stew ingredients were all storecupboard/freezer components, I figure we ate pretty frugally again. The stew had no recipe as such, I just winged it
But I used some leftover red pepper tomato sauce that I made for something, it was lovely and rich. Just the ticket - and a gorgeous colour in RL - sort of like terracotta/sandstone. We ate everything up between us - just the job on a cold evening
Today I am grateful for these 3 things;
For the gentleman who stopped and waited for me to walk across the pelican crossing in the supermarket carpark - after all, he was young, in a souped up car, and yet stopped, waited and didn't wheel spin away, the moment he could - stereotype squashed - BOOM!:T
for DP being the best that he can be at this moment in time
that I spent the day smiling and laughing - out loud and to myself. Priceless.:T
Thank you so much for popping by, reading and commenting today. I really, really appreciate your support. THANK YOU
See y'all later.

Greying
It's not my news to share really but I think I can safely divulge that Bob now has a gorgeous granddaughter who must be about 8 days old nowNothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0 -
 Hello Greying
What a lovely post - you sound lots happier, which always makes me feel happy when my various home-posters on mse are happy (you know, don't you, that I nip in to your diary, pull up an armchair, and read the paper here, don't you? :rotfl:).
Anyway, a good evening. And omg, potato scones. You know, even I could cope with that recipe. I love potato scones, I really do, sigh ... and yum.
Mini-mini-Bob is adorable, no two ways about it.
PS - Greying, is the mad closing of browsers starting up again??? Not good - hope that was a one off.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Good Morning :hello:
Ellidee - thank you
Bob - CONGRATULATIONS  :j:j:j A grand-daughter how absolutely wonderful:D:D
Karma - you pull up a chair, and read the papers all you wantthat's a wonderful sentiment to express
:D and yes, unfortunately the browser thing is doing it again. I'll have to check adobe hasn't installed something against my wishes to make it all happen again
The potato recipe, especially if you have the mash done is super easy and super quick.
So, Wednesday already.... Where's the time flying too????
Anyway, today should be a NSD. I might be able to snag 3 in a row now. Here's hoping
Not sure about what will be for dinner. Rice will be involved in some capacity, but other than that, it currently remains a mystery:D
Thanks for popping by, reading, commenting, announcing wonderful news, and for being all round, good eggs
See y'all later.

This thread is guaranteed to cheer me up - thanks Greying and all. Still feeling the twinges of the shingles but trying to get back some enthusiasm and get into things again.
Love the look of the Peanut curry - on my meal plan for the week!
And big congratulations Bob! Wonderful news.0 -
Hi all,
I'm having computer problems. I can't get the smilies to work and if I touch 'bold' or 'italics' I can't get them to turn off.
I have no idea if it is the site, if it is my computer, or a temporary glitch. Microsoft decided I needed updating to IE 11 this morning - perhaps that is the problem?
Anyhoo, all is well, but I'm taking the night off. I secured a NSD today. We're having chilli for dinner and with inspiration from muddy white chicken (who's name I'll go back and embolden in a minute, as that is the only way it works), DP and I may have a night in front of the log burner catching up with Borgen.
