The book of face A*di page has this to report......
Our Quids In vouchers will appear in Thursday’s Daily Mirror (England and Wales), and Daily Record (Scotland). Who else will be picking one up?
(I think its for a £5 money off voucher)
With thanks to those lovely folks at small things - -this was alerted to the group.
Whilst MR A is no use to me - I know some of you are a fan of it, for the price of the paper I guess its probably a good investment.
Slopes off quietly, puts the lamp back out, pencil back in pot, props envelope up by the kettle and the snap boxes.
Thanks for that sweetie:D Found your note!
:D
I hope that the more it gets publicised, the more folk will benefitUnfortunately, there is no soopermarket that gets 40 squids of our business anymore, we struggle to use the mrT 2offa20 spend. But thank you for posting about it - I'm really hopeful that someone can use the voucher - and frankly, the saving!
Karma - its a novelty to be paid I'm sure. Can't see me becoming a millionaire overnight mind, due to lack of clothage/textilage
Well, I'd better get a shift on, running late this morn. Still, didn't have to do de-icing duties, for which I am grateful
Won't be trying to claim a NSD today, a few bits and bobs to get.
Dinner this evening will probably be spiced veg and polenta. A Reza Mohammed recipe.
Have a good one all. Thanks for popping by, reading and commenting. I appreciate it greatly.
See y'all later.

Well, sweet potato jalfrezi still hasn't been made due to a variety of reasons. I am out later today so it has been put back until tomorrow.
I struggle to use money-off coupons too as I live on my own but do sometimes use them to stock up on cat food. Although I live in a town, my home is a couple of miles from all the big supermarkets (in different directions) so I sort of visit them all in turn every couple of weeks but my favourite is W/rose. I haven't used Approved Foods either but have often checked it out. Although I saw a few things I would use I could never make up a big enough order to make it worthwhile.
Have got a bit bogged down the last few days by taking on too much, so have had to postpone/cancel a couple of things. So much for taking it easy when you retire! Beautiful sunny day here and a blackbird is singing his heart out - lovely sound.0 -

Good Morning :hello:
Sorry for the no-show last evening. Yesterday turned a bit reflective.
I was able to attend the funeral of my friend's partner. I'm very glad that I went. It was a very uplifting event, and although some fellas openly let a few tears fall* - usually my cue to blub - I felt nothing put positivity and strength in the assembled throng. One facet of the service, clearly demonstrated, that the deceased was cherished and adored. What a thing to have - in life and in death.
So, whilst *that* boogering disease claimed another, far, far too young, there was laughter, audible support - yes, a few tears - but most of all, there was love.
* and for the record, I have no problem with fellas showing emotions - these were genuine tears of sadness.
I have been catching up, for several weeks now, with other diaries, both on the DFW and MFW board. You know how it is, we can all learn from each other, and I have to say, the MFW diaries board is as supportive as the DFW diaries board... well, nearlyBut there have been too striking points that have come through to me time and again during the past weeks, and yesterday's funeral only compounded my thoughts. The points are (and I'm not going to surprise you with any revelation of *previously unknown truths*); Life is short and that we all have too much stuff.
I'm sure the first point is getting worse as I age. I can't believe that it is Thursday already. Has some evil overlord zapped the earth and stolen 15 minutes of every hour?????
And the second point, I have now read too many times for it not to be true. I don't think we have much *stuff* but if the moving van came tomorrow I'd be scratching my head as to what was essential and what could be turfed out to make room....... There is a oft quoted phrase, I don't know the originator unfortunately, but it is; work less, earn less, spend less = live more. And I have to say I am quickly turning to that point of view. With the exception of one or two items in the casket, you really can't take it all with you.
Dinner last night was not as planned. CBA had kicked in by that stage. so we had fusilli pasta, with diced red pepper (jarred), black olives (jarred), mozzarella diced (mrT valoo) mixed in a herb, lemon, oil and paprika dressing. Quite quick, quite cheap and quite nom. No pic, but I know that I've made a similar version before (but used feta I think) on the thread.
We might go for Reza's dish tonight. We'll see.
Last night I was grateful for these 3 things;
for friendship
for unconditional and generous donations to charity
for love in all its manifestations
Thanks for popping in, commenting and joining in. You know how much I appreciate it.
Gotta fly, running late.
See y'all later.

That dinner sounds good actually - quick, tasty, and made up from mostly stuff you already had. What's not to like?
I'm glad the funeral was comforting - I think there is no nicer tribute to a funeral than your "there was laughter, audible support - yes, a few tears - but most of all, there was love" - what more could any of us ask?
Too much stuff...yes, without question. Even those of us who have already made a conscious effort to streamline are nodding heads at that, I'm sure. I need to go through recipe books again - we got several new ones as gifts at Christmas, and I'm pretty certain that I have others that have not seen the light of day in a long while which can go. Ordinary books are a headache too - I've tried to limit the number I keep - my default setting is now to pass a read paperback on to someone else, but those that have been hanging around for years are still proving sticky.

What a lovely post, Greying. To come together in remembrance and celebration of someone who was cherished and adored ... wonderful.
And I totally agree, as well, with the reflections you've taken from diaries recently - life is short, and we all have too much stuff. I just found a friend from my previous stay on mse, over at mfw, and we made exactly that point last night about the same book - the Delia Original Classic. Its so detailed, and so fussy (and in my case so meat and fish oriented, tho there is a vegetarian section), and there's so much available on the web now. I think I've used it 3 times in over 20 years. Time for it to go.
All the manifestations of love ... beautiful.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Good Evening :hello:
Hi EH - lovely to see you as ever. Funnily enough, I recently made the decision to cull most of the remainder of my cookbooks - just haven't actually done it yetBut like Karma says, I'm increasingly getting my inspiration from the internet, and even though these books cost quite a lot of money (mostly bought on sale though :money:), I rarely open them. I'm going to copy out the recipes I need and then dispose. My first thought was to 0xfamine bookshop, but funnily enough, whilst passing there today, I see that they have a copy of one of the books that I would be donating in the window....... The other alternative would be to investigate the 'pennies for pant1es' shop, as they apparently buy books too. Not too sure if they have a set price, as the books I saw on the side the other day were, um...... well, not the best quality....... Or, I could be generous to cancer research and take them into our local w1lkinsons - they sell 2nd hand books to raise cash.......
Karma - whilst I like Delia as a 'person' and think that she has done a lot to help people learn to cook in this country, I have never owned one of her cookbooks for the precise reason that you gave - they are overly fussy.
BoB - wonderful to *see* you, as ever
dreaming - you do sound busy, but I hope you get to make the curry sometime
Well, thank you for all your good wishes, and yes, today has treated me well - no complaints
I can't claim a NSD, so I won't
At least my cooking mojo is returning, so we had a bit of a *curry buffet* for dinner :rotfl:
Photo is here;
Left to right; lentil dhal, pune chickpeas and a version of palak 'paneer' with basmati rice.
The pune chickpeas are a recipe from one of the C0vent Gardin Soop co, cookbooks. The recipe (scroll down to find it) can be found HERE.
And I know that mouche will slap my wrists for even mentioning palak and paneer in the same sentence for the travesty that I committed, but I followed the palak paneer recipe that I have, but used greek salad cheese (cheap feta) in place of the paneerSorry! The recipe I use is not off the net, but if you google it, lots of versions come up - mine has yoghurt added into the spinach, if you were wondering why it is 'light' green. I'm pretty sure the hairy bike chaps did a version in their curry book.
I have to say, dinner was *lush*
So, today I am grateful for these 3 things;
for the beautiful sunshine - but the cold wind, not so much.... :rotfl:
for efficiency - from a financial institution too  :T:rotfl:
for the keeping qualities of chocolate porridge cake - last piece going into DP's snap box tomorrow, tastes scrummy, keeps well and is inexpensive to make - so MSE :money::T:T (Ta Pipster)
Thank you so very much for popping in, reading and commenting. I greatly appreciate it.
See y'all later.

Thats a lovely pic! And I'm glad that even you have found the likes of Delia not to your taste. I checked on Amazon and there's 50 copies already for sale! Not a goer, so I think the local charity shop I like is going to benefit.
And I hereby commit to making chocolate porridge cake tomorrow2023: the year I get to buy a car0
