A few years ago I started getting letters from QuickQuid with my correct address and surname but wrong first name, despite never having any dealings with them or any payday loan firm. When I queried it with them I was told it was an account which they used for training purposes, that it was sent out in error and that I should ignore it. I was unhappy with this and asked them to delete the account, and was assured they had. A couple of months after this, I received a letter with the same contact details, very similar to the emails sent today. When I called the number provided (at premium rates), I only ever got a voicemail box for Oscar Cassavettes , Head of Fraud Prevention. It was a very softly spoken message with an accent and I was unclear on what was said until I listened to it several times. I continued to received default notices until I left a message which made it clear I would be in touch with my solicitor if I had any more letters from them. In my opinion, it is a genuine QuickQuid message and the are just trawling to see if anyone actually pays or phones their premium rate lines.

It would be interesting to see the e-mail headers from one of the e-mails to determine which servers this e-mail has originated from

From the Headers on the one I got:
    Received: from om-enovaintl-trans.rsys5.com (om-enovaintl-trans.rsys5.com. [199.7.203.64])

to be fair, I suspect it is genuinely from them, but an issue on their part (Perhaps this is a mail that goes to all people over due, but on this run they accidentally did it to all the email addresses they have on file?)

rsys5.com belongs to a company called Responsys in the states who are a marketing company, so it looks to me like a major !!!!-up by them.

wow, aren't they a major loan company with tv advertisements?

This is a major public relations disaster IMO

    That is an understatement.

I hope people are also reporting these emails to the OFT.

A strange 'system error' that apparently lets them hold details of people (like MarleyBoy on a previous post) who have never had any dealings with them.

Comparison sites arent adverse to selling on contact details even if the person whose email they sell has requested no to marketing from other companys.

You dont need to have applied via quikquid for them to obtain your details.

    I received the same email.

I do not have a loan from QQ, but I did use them once back in 2010.

    I filled out the Contact Us form on their website around 10.30am this morning (not wanting to trust the contact details in the original email, in case it was a scam from a third party) and have just received this reply;

I am very sorry this has happened to you. Our system sent out a mass email in error informing customers their accounts are in default, and being sent to a third party agency. I ask that you disregard the information you received and know that it is with our sincerest apologies that this has happened and we are investigating the situation.

If you have any queries, please contact our Customer Service team round the clock via phone, email or online chat.

    QuickQuid Customer Service
    Direct Line: 0808 234 4558
    Fax: 0808 101 1380

If anyone else is worried and doesn't want to wait for them to send a correction email then, I recommend using the Contact Us form or the support at quickquid dot co dot uk email address. If my case is anything to go by they are taking around 2-3 hours to respond to queries. It seems that the phone lines and Live Chat system are overwhelmed by number of people trying to contact them and I have better things to do than hang on the phone waiting for someone to pick up!

Shows what a bunch of crooks they are when their contact number to discuss their error is a premium rate number which makes them more money.

That's another reason why I didn't want to phone them!

Judging by the headers (munged a bit for privacy and to allow posting without URLs), looks to be a legit e-mail for marketing as administrative messages are normally sent on via the cashnetusa domain. My message contains my actual customer number and an e-mail address not used anywhere else.

In addition, QuickQuid is owned by Enova and a recent job posting lists knowledge of the Responsys platform as desirable:

www (dot) enova (dot) com (slash) us-traditional-marketing-analyst

As a new member, I cannot post a direct link.

"Familiarity with Responsys or other marketing-related software strongly desired"
