QuickQuid email - Have I been a victim of Fraud?

I received the same email.
I do not have a loan from QQ, but I did use them once back in 2010.
I filled out the Contact Us form on their website around 10.30am this morning (not wanting to trust the contact details in the original email, in case it was a scam from a third party) and have just received this reply;
I am very sorry this has happened to you. Our system sent out a mass email in error informing customers their accounts are in default, and being sent to a third party agency. I ask that you disregard the information you received and know that it is with our sincerest apologies that this has happened and we are investigating the situation.
If you have any queries, please contact our Customer Service team round the clock via phone, email or online chat.

If anyone else is worried and doesn't want to wait for them to send a correction email then, I recommend using the Contact Us form or the support at quickquid dot co dot uk email address. If my case is anything to go by they are taking around 2-3 hours to respond to queries. It seems that the phone lines and Live Chat system are overwhelmed by number of people trying to contact them and I have better things to do than hang on the phone waiting for someone to pick up!
Yes they said sorry, but they not explained how they got all our details!!!!0 -
Been speaking to these guys on live chat.
They don't know what caused it but have started an investigation:
Naomi: Hello, once the investigation has been completed Jack you will be contacted to inform you why this has happened.
Naomi: We have just been advised of the error. We do not want to contact you without having properly investigated the problem so that we can provide details information as to what has caused it.
On pressing her about whether they'd been hacked:
Naomi: Also just to advise, I doubt that our system has been hacked because we did send the email, we just want to find out why it was sent.
They will be getting in touch within 24-48 apparently.0 -

I am not sure that it is possible for these companies to go down any further in most people's estimation. Incompetence seems to be one of their key objectives."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0 -
I'm so glad i came on here to see if anyone else had, had the same thing!
I panicked when i had this email! It just goes to show this company is incompetent! Another reason to never trust them!
Emailed them back and waiting for a reply.0 -
I received one of these emails this morning. I was really worried as i have never had anything to do with this company at all. No loan, nor ever contacted them. So I rang them up as i was really worried.
I asked them to delete all the data they have for me on file as I have no wish for them to have this. They then sent me an email with the below.Dear xxxxx,
Customer xxxxx
We regret to inform you that we are declining your request to delete your customer account records from our system for the following reasons:
• The data was processed correctly with regards to the UK Data Protection Act of 1988 and within the terms of our Privacy Policy.
• Record retention obligations under the UK Money Laundering regulations dictate that we store your data for five years from date of processing.
We respect your wish to keep your data private and will not release or disclose your personal information to any outside entity.
If you have any queries, please contact our Customer Service team round the clock via phone, email or live chat.
I have now written back asking them to delete my details as I have never had any business transaction or dealings with them.
Not sure what else I can do apart from that?0 -

Just made a complaint to the FOS and they said they have received lots of complaints about QQ today.
In terms of deleting Information the FOS has said if you are a customer of QQ then you need to compain to them but if you have had no dealing with them then you can make a complaint to the Information Commissioners office.0 -
