    Good Morning All

Sleepless night for, tossed n turned from 4.05am.

We didnt go to Cheshire yesterday. OH wasn't feeling too good. But as soon as he cancelled, he had a shower and felt much better, so we decided to get the pool out! he & DD spent all afternoon playing games in the pool! We immitated games off the jungle buzz play station 2. That was fun! For those who knows the game, we played Bubble bath & Pass the bomb!

haribo - hope the hospital visit goes well
blairweech & frugal - (((hugs to you both)))
kyle - I was only thinking about Pick Your Own fruit the other day! Me too must investigate!
taplady - good luck for DS interview!
oops a daisy - your'e like me when it comes to camping, I cant leave home without my comforts. Even last year, we only went for 5days, the estate car was full and so was the trailer! I was surprised how much we actually took.
Pen-Pin - hope the new tablets work for you

Money still missing, despite me searching high n low. At one stage I even doubted that DS picked it up, so I promised him a chinese if he found it. Which would have promted him into handing it over. Bless him, he searched everywhere, to no avail, and I felt awfull afterwards for doubting him in the first place! Ive got £9 gas (which should last all week) and £5 electric, which Im hoping should last me before I hit the emegency button! OH used his last bit of money and put some diesel in the car for me! Im just hoping nothing major crops up in the week!

Ive had a letter from the council saying they are including me in this yr's finances of home improvements and I will be contacted soon re my downstairs cloakroom! Another words, they will be fitting a sink or a new cistern in my loo! I see they start with the cheaper jobs first! Despite my big list I posted before of what they highlighted needs to be done.

My son has been invited to the Birmingham Children's Hospital for an acitivity set day in July, to help him prepare for Senior School and how to cope with and learn skills & stratergories with name calling, being teased etc regarding his cleft lip! There will be 2 groups running along side each other, 1 for the younger children and the other for parents. I will ask at school today if there are plans or activities for that day, just so they dont clash. It sounds good/interesting. The only thing is - I will have to find childcare for DD all day. Which wont be easy.

Right off for a shower now.
    Catch you later

    Morning everyone!

I wanted to get a load of things done today, but ache all over and have a pig of a headache! Not good. Have taken lots of painkillers, so hopefully I'll be better by midday, then I can at least get a few things done, and perhaps make it to Guides tonight, who knows though.

    Good morning everyone,

(((hugs))) to Frugal, Pen-Pin and blairweech for different reasons.

Natzini hope the headache eases soon.
Crazychik hope you find the money soon.
spiddy we found that too with Belgium. Luxembourg was just as bad. The food was gorgeous but each serving was enormous and would easily have served two here. DD still loves getting chocolate-filled croissants and brioche as a breakfast treat.
Taplady good luck to your DS for his interview. Fingers crossed.

DS is back at school today but DD doesn't go back until Wednesday, so we are having two Girls' Days. I love these days when I get one-to-one time with them. DS and I had two days at Easter when DD went back before him so now its her turn. It's amazing the things they tell you and talk about when its just 1-2-1. So, I imagine today we will be going bowling as she mentioned that last night. Tomorrow, we may have a try at a new tai chi class that is starting in the parish centre. I have always wanted to try it.

Washing is on as the sun is shining. Need to go out soon and check the plants. Time for tea first though.

    Have a marvellous Monday. xx

    Hi everyone!!
Not been around this weekend, so hope I've not missed too much. I will try to go back over the threads at some point (just speed reading:o ) Anyway from what others are writing it seems PP and Frugal need extra hugs today so ((((((((hugs)))))))) to you both!!!

PP I do like your common sense regarding the freedom pass:D Although it's free to you, it does have to be paid for out of the public purse and if you won't use it, well why bother. I used to look after an old lady who lived a few doors away. She could only walk a little and had a disabled badge for when I (or anyone else) ferried her about in the car. Well they obviously changed the rules and she had to go in person to renew her freedom pass. She was incensed, saying how the hell did they expect her to walk up the road to get it. She just couldn't understand that if she couldn't make it to the post office, she couldn't make it to the bus-stop either. She thought because it was free, she should have one anyway. I couldn't persuade her it was just a waste, funny really because she was sooo frugal in other ways. She taught me lots of money-saving things:D

Today I've to decide whether to do gardening or housework. Ummm tough decision, not!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: So I'll load the WM, drink my coffee and then weeds beware:p

Dinner tonight will be Queenie's meatloaf from the freezer. Does anyone else's family get fixated on new recipes they try from this board? Don't get me wrong, I love the meatloaf, but no sooner do I serve one and freeze the other (always make 2, 1lb of sausagemeat, 2lbs mince) than someone says, ooh can we have meatloaf tonight:rotfl: :rotfl:

Must get off or the morning will be half gone.

    CMxx

    Morning all
best wishes for FRUGAL and also BLAIRWEECH and PENPIN and anyone else in pain or going through exam hell!
dd has had the whole half term to give me a letter stating that she needs £30 for a school trip next year so she gave it to me this morning of course
Loads to do today including packing for the cayman islands on wednesday. MSned my dsis last night and she is arriving 3 hours before me but will wait at the airport - she is such a sweetie.
I must also plant out some broad beans, soya beans and sow some more radishes - I am running out of space though and might need to dig up the lawn :D
i am also waiting in for a delivery of my new tent - just a little one for me and dd - and some airbeds. We do minimal camping as we don't have a car so have to be able ot carry our house on our backs like snails. We used to take loads though which exoh drove to the campsite while me and the kids got the train :) My dad has a tiny caravan and goes all over europe laughing at the caravans de luxe with their satelitte dishes and dishwashers. while camping last weekend something got me thinking. there was only one supermarket in the town which was an expensive co-op which made me realise that this is the reality for lots of people - what a revelation! Now I normally shop most days as there are three large supermarkets within cycling distance from me and I kid myself that I am buying fresh produce every day - well yeah unless you count the freight time. So now I am pretending that I don't live near 3 supermarkets and allowing myself one shop per week. This so far has made a major impact on my food planning, shopping and wastage - end of ramble.

have a good day everyone :)
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

    I've been Money Tipped!
    :hello: Morning!

Big (((hugs))) to Frugal, keeping my fingers crossed for you
Also (((hugs))) to PP and BW

Recovering from the walking I did yesterday, I am def improving as to distance I can do etc but must slow down and pace!:o

Yesterday we visited the Plotlands or what was left of it! Only one home remains and that is now a museum with everything Old style ;) (furniture, sewing machine, patterns, books, record player -playing an old 78, pins, cooker, larder contents, cook books, pots and pans, food packets, tool shed contents, etc) from the 1930 - 1940's there was even an anderson shelter in the garden! It was as if time had frozen, a wonderful place especially on a lovely summers day with the doors of the cottage open to the garden and the fresh air. Best bit was listening to the other visitors comments - "My Gran had one of those cookers!", Grandad had tools like that!", "My Mum had to do her washing in one of those!" all echoing our own thoughts! :D It was so peaceful there though and you could really get a feel of how the Londoners must have felt to be able to escape the constraints of city life and be able to grow their own fruit and veg. It was also a refuge to many during the wartime blitz. Life was hard for them though with no electricity or running water just a standpipe and paraffin lamps in the beginning. They also had a long way to haul their shopping back.

Now all but one of the bungalows have been demolished and the gardens are returning to the wild, though you can still spot roses, iris, valerian, lilies, fruit trees etc peering through as a testament to the plotlanders endeavours. Wildlife thrives in the area hence the nature reserve.

I am now very grateful for my modern kitchen and really appreciate now how easy my life is but part of me envies them the freedom they had.

Got a shock earlier on in the day as they were demolishing my old school, the maths, french and english classes already gone! years ago I would have been very, very happy about this :D but I thought that this was a grade 2 listed building and planning permission had still not been granted!

    Well back to reality:rolleyes:

Breakfast - yogurt with blackberries and apple, toast
Lunch - left over picnic (pate, scotch egg, salad)
    Dinner - Kedgaree

    Have a good day

    Catz x

    morning every1

still finding it a bit hard to say hi to every1, theres so many of you to reply to, will have to get more familiar with all the names :rotfl: So hello to every1! :j

Work for me today, only 3 days left, leave on Thursday and I'm dreading it, still haven't found another job, and dont want to be jobless for too long, bills to pay and kids to feed

Left lunch at home this morn, as I was running round in a rush, totally forgot it  Sending OH home at lunchtime to pick it up, refuse to go to tesco and pay money for more lunch :rotfl:

Finish at 2pm, so couple of hours housework when I get back, before I do dinner. Got some pork chops, for dinner, just trying to get some inspiration to cook them, instead of my usual throwing em in the oven, and serving em with pots and veg. Found some good recipes on here, so mite be brave enough to try one :rotfl:

Need to get some stuff listed on Ebay, got stacks of stuff piling up, but never find the time to list it, mite be sitting on £100s worth of junk (I wish:rotfl: )

Back and ribs are alot better, had a peaceful and painless sleep last nite :D

Right best be off, suppose I should do some work:rotfl: (also have a quick peek online at jobs, when the boss isnt around :rotfl: )

    Bye for now

Morning everyone who's been and all who will be posting later

    <<Frugal>>Good luck today.
<<PenPin>>Sorry to hear you are in such pain.
<<CrazyChick>> Check the pockets, especially jeans/trousers. I found a folded £5 note in mine the other day, been through the wash and everything. Also, where did you believe you left it? Is it possible that other papers or something got put on top?
<<Hester>> How difficult can it be to work out someone's pay? Especially for a Payroll department!! I hope you get it sorted soon.

What a beautiful day! No washing to hang out as I did five loads yesterday.

Popping out shortly, need to get veggies for dinner tonight and tomorrow, and a couple of other bits and pieces. Not too much, though. Got a 10% discount voucher from Lakeland, and shall be spending that online today.

Want to do a freezer check, as I'm expecting to use the last of our minced mutton this week and so will be ordering from Moorlands again; I need to work out what to get.

I also want to do a through kitchen clean this week, and will be starting by emptying and cleaning all the cupboards (although one at a time of course!). I'm sure I've got lots of bits that I haven't used, some of them will be rehomed immediatelyt (sold or charity/freecycle), and those I'm not sure about will be moved the loft for 12 months. If I haven't thought anout them by the end of the 12 months then they'll also be rehomed.

Coming off my "diet" for dinner tonight: steak with Delia's oven baked risotto (I like it as a side dish), garlic mushrooms, lots of steamed veggies, plenty of Pinotage....and maybe a Gu pudding if I can find the coffee & chocolate one in Waitrose.

DH was meant to be away working today, so I arranged my monthly measure and weigh in at Curves gym for 10.30 today. Now he's decided he's not going. However, we've thought of some things we need from the garden centre, and I'm hoping he will be leaving imminently.

Oh, forgot to say, The fan in the bedroom works brilliantly. However, because Wash has taken to sticking his head round the door every so often to see if the monster is still on the ceiling, we can't have it on for long in case it scares him off again.

Well, better get myself sorted out.

Catch up with all you all later xxxxx Hazel

    Morning all.

Blimey, I always start with such good intentions but by the time I get to post a reply, it's gone 10am.

Good luck to Frugal today, and to PennyPincher and Blairweech, and anyone else who needs it.

It's overcast here, so I may not get around to finishing off the last of my washing - that'll be the bits that crept into the basket this weekend, plus what I strip from my bed. I do want to iron all the holiday stuff I managed to wash on Thursday - yesterday I cleared the stuff I did at the weekend.

No more baking here. I have a Victoria sandwich, a trifle, and about 8 of the 12 cakes I baked on Saturday. As there's only me, I don't want to be chucking any of it out.

Monday is a study day for me. My last OU assignment was due in on Friday but they gave me an extension due to my holiday, so I'll be getting on with that today, and probably on Thursday too.

    Have good days.
