POPLA is best because they will wriggle and writhe to avoid giving you a code because it costs them £27.00+VAT
It also costs the BPA a shedload of money because they pay for POPLA.
Yes, it would come to me as I'm the registered keeper of the car. However, VCS don't know my name - yet, although they should do as I am on Wickes' list of registered parkers.0 -
So you wait for the Notice to Keeper for now. Do not respond to a windscreen fake PCN. Start your own thread if you get a rejection and POPLA code because there will be more to the appeal at that stage than just saying you are on a list. You will win in the end though.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks CouponMad. What do you mean be "fake PCN" though? And can you also explain what you mean by "start your own thread if you get a rejection and POPLA code"please? Sorry, very new to all this. Been parking there for the last 2 years in the same parking bay without any trouble.0 -
We use the term 'fake PCN' for any private one because they are just that = fake!
An impersonation of a real Council PCN, intended to deceive because they mimic the acronym and the appearance of a 'real' one from a local authority.
'Start a new thread' means (please) get off this thread because it isn't a general free-for-all discussion, it's mib150's own thread and for another poster to start discussion is considered a 'hijack' (albeit unintended by a newbie to this board who may be more used to discussion on MSE). This isn't a discussion board, it's a 'case by case' demolition of all private parking tickets, and the odd Council one as well! Hence we need a rule of 'one case, one thread' to avoid confusion.
Every case is different and if you ever land on any forum thread after a Google search, always jump instead to the forum board the thread sits on. You can do that from here by clicking where my signature explains. One click and the breadcrumb trail takes you to the first index page of new threads which is where you should be reading. And where to use the blue 'new thread' button when you need to (sorry if that's obvious to an MSEer!).
And if you don't know what POPLA is you haven't yet read enough threads on page one/two of this parking forum, even though you are a regular MSEer. So with one click, please hop off this thread and back on the breadcrumb trail to the main front page of the parking forum...start reading the stickies and the first threads on page 1/2/3 until your eyes glaze over! You will soon see a pattern to the advice and you will know about POPLA.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Ok thanks. Consider me suitably told off !0 -
Received the acknowledgement from POPLA on Friday that they've got our appeal, so will keep you posted.0

Following on from the fantastic success of this thread:

Mine (or my wife's) plight is exactly the same.
Now given that we are some way further down the road ( POPLA appeal submitted) than Mrs J S, is it worth sending a similar email to Geoff Cooper also? Or did the boat sail long ago?0 -
No complain awayWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Email sent last night, reply received this morning as follows:Dear Mr *********
I'll get our property and operations people to look into this. Can you tell me roughly what time your wife parked at the store, and if you have the receipt from Wickes, that would also be helpful (if you haven't, and I would be surprised if you had kept it, perhaps you can just tell me what your wife bought, and we can marry this up with our till records). If we have this detail it helps us talk to PCN to get the ticket rescinded under the terms of our contract with them.
I've given him the details of the store receipt and PCN number so watch this space for further developments.0
