  • Ten minutes ago, i also recieved a letter from Cap Quest informing me that i owe them over £700 for a loan with Abbey National (Santander.)
I have a mortgage with them but have NEVER taken out a loan.
The letter does not tell me anything at all about the loan, how much it was for or when it was taken out?
I also got a letter supposedly from Abbey (Santader) in the same post saying they had sold the debt to Cap Quest in July this year.
Should i just ignore this or should i ring them and risk them then constantly calling me and the stress that comes with it?

This is already very stressfull to me.
I have joined this Forum for this reason, after i typed Cap Quests number into Google and reading these problomatic stories others have had.

been reading the posts with interest, a couple of years ago i had two egg credit cards which i was struggling to make minimum payments on egg called and offered to put then into a loan of £7500 to pay the cards and i would pay then £135 over 7 years but i had to take out insurance at a cost of £1700 roughly, anyways i defaulted on the payment once and straight away crapquest called saying pay up or go straight to court bla bla bla, cut a long story short i made arrangements to continue paying them £170 a month but the thickos took the £1700 i would having been paying for insurance and took it of the loan amount and are charging me 0% on the money i still owe rather than the 13% i was paying to egg!, this means i have 12 more months to pay it off rather than another 5 years!! HA! one in the eye for you crapquest! plus if i can pay of early they'll take a further 25% of the final repayment happy days! thought i'd share the fact that sometimes their mistakes can work in our favour :)

  • I also have just received a letter from capquest about a loan I didnt even know existed and I am supposed to have made a last payment in November 1998 and they now now want to sort the matterout why havent they contacted me before and why has my credit rating not been affected. I do not know what to do now though Im requesting a copy of the credit agreement but until I see a copy of it I will not do anything
  • Further to my previous post, I received a statutory demand with the threat of bankruptcy from Cap Quest. I applied to the court to have this set aside as I believed it to be statute barred and refering to a 1995 debt.
I was given a court date for tomorrow and have prepared my case.

I yesterday received a letter from Cap Quest saying that they have had a verbal communication from the RBS saying I communicated and made a payment to RBS in Sep 2004 and as a result it is not statute barred.
This is totally Fabrication as I was not even in the UK during the period that they say I communicated and made a payment.
I will attend the court tomorrow and state that if I had communicated and made a payment they should be able to produce documentary proof and that a verbal communication is equivelant to hersay and not admissable in court.

How can Cap Quest get away with making false claims to the courts ?

I will post again tomorrow after the court hearing.
  • I thought i would type in capquest and see what came up and am shocked that they have been chasing so much people!! My story is that i was a idiot a few years ago and ran up a credit card with bank of scotland so capquest sent me letter so i made up a payment plan and payed it all off that was in sept 2007 so i moved house ect then last month i recieved a letter from them demanding money for £140.00 i phoned them and went mad cause i owe them nothing they then said it was a mistake!!! So they would clear it but am still getting letters saying they will be taken me to court!! I have phoned them and they just argue down the phone with me then admitt it was a mistake. So i have sent them an email but have never had a reply back yet. Does anyone know if there is any kind of action i can take? And am a homeowner so dont want this on my credit rating. Thank you.
  • I attended court today with my application to set aside the statutory demand that cap quest had issued.
Cap Quest claimed that I had made a payment in 2004 (even though I wasnt even in the country at the time and dispute the payment.) and so it was not statute barred.
They however could not show this claiming that RBS had only given them verbal information on the case.
My argument is that verbal information should not stand up in court and the judge agreed, and set aside the statutory demand.

I look forward to the next installment from this company which seems to have a total disregard for the law.
  • CRAPQUEST have been harrassing me for about a year, told me I owe £2500 to egg card. There is no debt with egg as I paid them off about 8 years ago, I paid them off just before my child started school and when I did pay them they took £3600 instead of £1800 leaving me with not much money to get my childs school uniform. I have sent the evidence of this to Crapquest about a year ago.
They have even been sending letters to my parents address which is quite shocking as they moved 4 years ago and I never lived at that address.
They didnt send anything by post to confirm that they recieved the paperwork i sent them. They are now harrassing me by phone, have caller id so dont answer them at all. Left me a message tho telling me to call them back urgently on a 0870 number...... I DONT THINK SO. NOT VERY PROFESSIONAL AT ALL. THEY ARE JUST THEIVING VULTURES!!!!!!
  • I have sent the first payment to Crap Quest by cheque which they have cashed and now I have received a letter stating that I have not payed and threatening legal action.
I have no problem in paying my debt at 15euros a month which is all i can afford but to have cashed the cheque and then say that they have not received it.
Where did they get that one from???

    Any ideas??
  • HELP!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!

I moved into this place 6 months ago after council found me a place after fleeing domestic violence. i wasnt married but im now getting letters and recieving calls on my HOME number for a "Mrs" Dawn "Davies" .... i have no idea how they got my home number but my new partner has told them on the phone that noone of that name lives here but they pay no attention and still continue to call.
We've returned several letters back marked R.T.S to these people but finally had enough and opened one to see what it was all about. It said that this "person" they assume is me owes Capital One £347 and has threatened court action. ive never had a credit card!
I had 6 Au Pairs living with me over the years could one of them had done this? what do i do? ive neva been known as any other name apart from the one i was born with. Ive had enough.
    advice would be great
  • I'm curious about this 'Crapquest' lot.

I have no debts that I know of, but this week I've come home from work twice to find telephone messages that appear to come from Capquest, asking me to contact them on 08700843510 and quote a reference number. As I have received no letters from them, or any other company demanding money, I was planning to ignore the messages...but I'm certain they will call again. As far as I know, all they have is my home telephone number, (I doubt if they even know my name), and I often get calls intended for previous tenants. Should I ignore, or investigate (ie. mention it in this forum), or even call (their non-0870 number) from a pay phone.
