E-mail address for my company

OK - I've tried a couple of things. 123-reg dont give free email you have to pay 5.99 per month.
I'm looking at setting up the outlook. My broadband provider is Virgin.
How do I physically do this:
To be able to send mail, you need to set the outgoing mail server to whatever SMTP server you want to use --
Which programmes should I be looking at to do the above?0 -

I give up - I've been doing all sorts and I can't get it right. If I take my computer to a computer repair shop would they be able to do this for me? Or are there companies on-line that can take over the settings of my computer and do it for me?
If so, any recommendations of a not to expensive service?
Many thanks

What version of Outlook do you have? - the older ones are a nightmare to configure - new version you just need email address and password. (have you set up an e-mail address)
a free alternate is Thunderbird (from the Firefox browser people)
Don't pay anyone to do this for you!0 -

Thanks.
I have Outlook 2013.
It did seem straightforward when I wet into it. It went wrong at the password. I put in my internet password and it didn't accept it. I'll give it another try.0 -
I'm getting somewhere.
I did set up the email on domainlive - but I didn't set up any DNS - so I'm having a go at that now :-)0 -

When you set up your e-mail you should have put in a a password that is all you need - e-mail address and password - I wouldn't touch DNS for the moment.0 -
Who have you bought your domain name from?
and why are you using domainlive?0 -
This is getting good. The email address is definitly working.
Just need to get it finalised to show up in Outlook!0 -

Well I definitely have the email address set up and it works from domainlive.
I did have to do something with the DNS - I had to prove that I owned the domian so that the email worked.
The crazy thing is, the email will still not show up in Oultook 2013. I've tried adding the email address and entering the same password that I used to access it on domainlive, but it comes up with messages saying it can't connect to server using encrypted. Tried the unencrypted option but still no go.
Can anyone tell me how to do this 'manually'?
Service is
Microsoft Exchange or Compatible
Outlook.com or Exchange
Pop or Imap
Which one of the above should I select?
Next obstical is :
Server Information. What should I put in here?
I do feel close to getting this sorted, grateful for more advice please.0
