Im failing to see the appeal of Ryanair and like i said, noone i know even uses it anymore.
Not everyone lives near Gatwick and the London airports - that hour at the other end is far more convenient than five hours at this end.0 -

RyanAir are ok for short haul flights but any longer than 2 hours and it can be a bit of a wrentch.
No more 'packed in' than most of the full service airlines. If you want more room, you need to be booking a different cabin.0 -
ryanair sill does the job for me.
i flew to warsaw 2 weeks ago with them, booked the tickets at the right time and paid £30'ish quid return, I didnt need a bag as I was only there for a night and the flight left and returned on time so I cant complain.
The added bonus is they are currently flying into chopin airport, which is a far nicer airport to hang about it when you fly back home and the transport links are better but I have flown into Modlin too and there was no problems with getting into town from their too.Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
Price comparison isn't really an issue, as most budget airlines sell the first seats very cheap, and then get more expensive as the plane fills up. So what you need to take into account is things like baggage allowance, extra charges, traveling time and costs to and from airports, passenger comfort, etc...
From personal experience, and from the experience of friends and relatives, I would rate Easyjet at the top, followed by Monarch, Ryanair, Jet 2, and BMI Baby worst. But at the end of the day it all depends on convenience combined with the price at the time of booking.0 -
But is price the only factor? What is the point of flying Monarch if 3% of their flights are delayed over 3 hours. They have the worst punctuality of any airline in the UK see http://www.flightontime.info/news/20130702b.html
for both charter (MON) or scheduled flights (ZB) and you will have a very long wait if you are flying BMibaby :rotfl:0 -

I'm going by the experience of myself as well as friends and relatives. And have flown with Monarch a number of times. I can honestly say that the only times they have been delayed was back in the 1970's, when my Dad was actually the flight engineer(don't know if it was his fault though).
With delays, it would be interesting to see the actual causes for the delays, as they are often outside the control of the airline.
If price is the only factor, then as I said, you need to take into account many other things apart from the advertised 'from' price.
As for BMI Baby, I wasn't sure if they were still running, so I googled them, and found a few pages where their flights were still advertised. I suppose they were out of date pages though.0 -
Well my last 2 flights with Monarch have both been delayed. Not enough to get any compo though.
Easyjet also fly to/from London Southend. If you are a not too clued up foreign tourist, you could be wandering along the prom searching high and low for Big Ben and Buckingham Palace.0 -

It's the same in many airports in many countries. Gatwick, Luton, and Stanstead are all London airports. And I can't remember the city, but I've heard of one foreign city airport being two hours away from the city. At least with the London airports you can be in London within about half an hour.0 -

i've flown Monarch to Munich from Birmingham numerous times and have never been delayed.
actually prefered monarch just for the fact on that route at the time I was leaving the plane was practically empty and I could sit where i like and lay across 3 seats and sleep every time I have flown with themDebt
