When my ED got "chickens pops" as she called it the Doctor told me
"you can't get shingles from chickenpoxs as shingles is caused by already having the virus in your system.. however you can get chickenpoxs from shingles!!!"

I was also on steriods at the time and was worried...

My YD daugehers spots came out 14 days after the eldest one... I also did not bath/wash my children for the whole time they had it (on advise from Nan) and they had no itching and no scars...

    Hope your get better soon

When my two had it, I found that hypercal (homeopic cream available at chemist) reduced the intensity of the spots if I could get it on before they blistered. You should notice a red blotch first if you look carefully.

We made wipes using cotton pads soaked in peppermint water which was cooling - put a single drop of peppermint essential oil into a small bowl of water, agitate to dispearse the oil, dip in pads and wring out so just damp and store in an airtight container.

You can make lavender pads in the same way and use them to wipe sticky eyes - fantastic for eye infections so hopefully will help with the spots on the eyelids.

Lavender oil and peppermint oil in the bath was soothing.

Other than that, antihisthamine and calopol.

    Telephone call 15 minutes ago

DD1 has slipped on way out of pool and broken arm whilst with her dad on hols in cyprus yesterday!

    I can't take anymore:doh:

:grouphug: Poor DD1 and poor you.
Oh well, at least her dad gets some hassle too - I always find its down to mum to deal with problems but if you're not there......

DD1 really doesn't want chicken pox now so perhaps she'll have to stay with dad until the others are all clear! Failing that, you need to invest in some knitting needles:D

watch how much calamine you use, I found that it was soothing as it went on but after it had dried into a white crust was actually quite irritating. The oils ftm mentioned sound nice.

The blisters will be and look really red and sore (worse than they have been!!) There may also be a bit of discharge and there maybe a smell. Your LO may also may be also slightly more under the weather than they have been. It can be really difficult to keep them from getting infected, especially those which are near (or even in) their bits nad bobs:eek:

If you are concerne that they are infected you do need to see the doctor for clarification etc etc. In the meantime bathe with cooled boiled water HTH
