well my youngest who is 3 1/2 is suffering with it as he has one on his lower eyelid on his eye almost and one in his mouth. Middle child is scratching but ok in herself although has had a temp and complained of feelign poorly for two days

still they can't be that bad, they've been eating cake, scrapping over pens and are now fighting over a rory the racing car dvd.

I'm dreading the week ahead, I work from home (which most would consider advantageous with sick kids) but really its harder, as you still have to do the work with them around!

Violet, if they get really bad, consider Phernergen - it's an antihistamine (liquid) and has the benefit of making them drowsy and calm. Safe for kiddies and it might be available OTC, but you could get it free from GP.

    Have fun...

Mine always have accidents on the weekend when there is no out of hours cover! Last time my son split his tongue we had to drive 25 miles to the nearest minor injury unit. When my daughter had a seizure all the ambulances (including the choppers) were dealing with a car accident so that was a 25 mile drive too (try keeping to the speed limits when you have a fitting child in the car)

I remember when I went into labour with third child. As second one had been born in 30 mins from waters breaking (no prior contractons but god did it hurt when they came) - and was born on the floor of the maternity ward (we only just made it) - when waters burst with third baby we got to the hospital in 9 minutes and that was with dropping DD1 and DD2 off to his mothers. Typically third baby then decided to take 15 hours to arrive - lets just say we broke speed limit "a tiny bit"

They are shutting the local A&E to us and nearest one will be 16 miles away - blackburn or airedale. Not very happy about it.

It's not just your kids. I always find its the night before the schools are due back one will say "i have a sore tummy" folowed by them actually being sick. Spreads around them all so fast.

The little uns are in bed after being bathed in bicarb of soda and smothered in calamine lotion. They seem ok but I'm not, I'm shattered. DS has a right painful looking blisted at the top of his buttocks and it scratching his ears and head. DD has one on her lip and she's wincing when drinking her hot chocolate. I'd hate to be a kid with chicken pox! I'm itching for them. Oh well, I'm going to plan some good stuff for them to do this week, baking, painting etc etc

My son got chicken pox for Christmas :( one year. I think these illnesses wait for the most inconvenient moment! Hope your little ones are feeling better soon.

Mine too!!! My DS(3) started with chicken pox yesterday which means time off nursery and as a single mum, time off work for me too. I dont get paid for taking time off with dependants so eating into paid sick leave again which means when i get sick, i have to drag myself into work regardless of how poorly i am !!

Oh you poor thing - and you work for a big organisation too don't you? surely they should have more sympathy for the single parents and pay them for time off with dependants than wasting money giving smokers free nicotine substitues. If I was you I'd feel rather resentful about that.

I hope your little boy (same age as mine) doesn't get them too badly, my boy has got one on his lower eyelid just touching his eye and its driving him mad. He only had a few yesterday but he woke up this morning looking like the red dot fairy had attacked him overnight :(
