Just in case that pm didn't go through, can we try again tomorrow maybe? My pen usb is cheap and used so I'd prefer to buy another, and get some sleep.
I'll try u tomorrow night and if u can help i'd be very grateful.

Cheap and used is fine. No need to buy new, as long as it works. Doesn't need to be high capacity. So transfer the contents to the a new folder on thedrive tomorrow.
By then I'll have written up instructions on what to do to check if the licencing table has been disabled and how to enable it.

FYI - You can obtain the Product Key for the version of Windows you are running by downloading the free personal version of 'Belarc Advisor' from belarc.com
When you run it you will find the key about 3/4 of the way down the page under 'Software Licenses'.
It'll give you a lot of other info about your machine as well. You can lose a loose goose.
You cannot loose a lose goose.
Get it? Now use it before you lose it.
or - Try using it - not losing it.0 -

No. That would not help in this case because the Product Key that would be shown is not the Product key on the COA. So it would be of no use without the missing components.
You can see that here:

Hi Nifty, don't know if you're available, but I'm having a bit of difficulty following ur instructions.
I've run rufus and am now trying to run the follow up download, this is my problem, do I run or do I save/ When I try to run I'm offered 3 options delete/actions.view downloads. If I click save I have 3 options save/save as/save & run.
I know I have to save it to the pen drive so what should I do?0 -

'Save as' allows you to place it in a location of your choice. You can save it anywhere and move it to the drive if you like.
You just have to follow the instruction exactly. No artistic licence.0 -
Making a little progress
I've reached the freedos screen.
It wont accept hpi 103 read slp it says "bad command or filename". Could it be hpi013, i only say that because at the top of the scren it says FreeDOS DISPLAY ver.0.13
Anyway I'm a bit nervous of trying it, what do u think?0 -
Just looked into my computer, drive (H) which is the pen drive and opened up the programme that we saved on it last night. An error message has popped up, it says
"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows that you are running. Check your computers system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of he programme, and then contact the software publisher."
Could this be the reason the command didn't work in DOS last night? Have I saved it incorrectly?
In the meantime 3 reboots and I still haven't been able to get the DOS screen again, oh well, here goes again, wish me luck. x0
