Similar problem here and I hope the OP doesn't mind me jumping on their thread.

I've had the same message for a few months and not been able to get rid of it on a Compaq CQ70-116EM, running Vista 6 (Build 6002: Service Pack 2).

No recent malware problems I'm aware of. Any advice appreciated (without disturbing holidays).

Sending you a PM. Seems a HP/Compaq problem.

All the activation elements are fine. Press the Flying Windows key and whilst holding it down, press the Pause Break key. The resulting page should show the activation status at the bottom of the page.

You can use the program above to deactivate and reactivate or do it manually as in this thread which gives you more info about your particular problem.

But before you do that, can you update with any of these BIOS for me?

The only issue that I have, is the HP/Compaq BIOS numbering system. Your BIOS is reporting F.26, whilst their website claims that the previous versions are F.52A, F63A and F.65

Can you confirm this is your machine?

    Sending you a PM.

If you don't wish to update and upgrade, simply remove and re-apply activation as in this thread

Niftydigits - I'm stunned how much help you're giving, especially while you're on holiday. What a nice person you are. :A:A

His problem was not the same. He just needed a simple deactivation/reactivation.

In your case, try the tool without ticking the "Regenerate All Activation System" box first.

In the end I think Flashing the BIOS will do it, but I want to try this first.

We can replace all activation data, so it is not a problem. Produce me a screenshot with the Toolkit afterwards and send it via PM. If nothing has changed, we'll use the Regenerate all switch. If still no good, we will flash the BIOS and reactivate manually.
