I have a £50 voucher from Carphone Warehouse that I won through a comp :j

Therefore, I'm looking for a new phone that is around £50 to £250 range for PAYG upgrade price (which is usually cheaper than full price). Suggestions?

Oh and all phones MUST be available from Carphone Warehouse.

Galaxy S3 Mini is £249 at full price on PAYG, how much cheaper you get it for on upgrade is down to whatever discount your provider is going to offer.

A fairly impressive handset even if you do end up paying the £249 though IMHO.

I'm on T-Mobile. Currently I have three contenders:

    Xperia J
    Hunwei Y300
    Galaxy S3 Mini

Is the S3 mini worth for the price? Would it be expected to drop for Christmas season?

I have the HTC Desire X on Tesco mobile and love it. It's now running 4.1 (Jellybean), and does everything I want of it.

Is the Desire X worth £199? Do you think the S3 mini worth the £224 upgrade?

AS always Google update first .

If you buy a TMobile phone then the update relies on TMobile to approve and release the update after the manufacturers release .

    Google >>> Manufacturer >>> Network .

As the above poster says, look at getting a pure Google phone if you want to stick with Android.

LG made the last one (Nexus 4) and Samsung it's predecessor (Galaxy Nexus), but I fear both are not available from CPW?

Getting a "pure Google Android" phone will get you the updates, as Samsung don't have to put their "touch wiz" UI (user interface... or 'theme' if you like) on it, HTC won't have to do theirs either.

Update released > phone manufacturer > carrier > you

Cutting out the carrier rubbish (getting a true unlocked phone) and the phone maker will cut update waiting times by at least half.

However take a look at Windows Phone. It's gaining momentum every month now a lot more people have their handsets.

But aren't CPW phones unlocked? And I'm prefer Android over Windows Phone, partially because it's more versatile.

But which network are those unlocked phones "waiting" for? There are about 4 Networks in the UK alone.

And is the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini worth that price or is there better for that price range?
