  • Morning,

Well it wasn't the cheapest of days out yesterday but I still have some money left in my purse. The weather put paid to picnic plans, plus I'd been up since a little after 3am so couldn't be bothered with the great outdoors. We took the kids to indoor play, which cost £7.50 with no time limit. I then spent a further £13.60 on food and drinks for the 3 of us (which is way cheaper than I'd spend in the pub).

As I'd suspected, £20.01 (hate that) of liquid gold to see me over the weekend.

Today's plans include spending nothing or nearly nothing. We'll be visiting my mum at some point and she'll make us lunch. I need to pop to the butchers but just for stuff for her.

Foster cats are getting desperate for cat litter (I've never known such a mucky pair). I may need to stump up for some today or tomorrow. I've discovered that the wooden chip stuff is brilliant.

  • Morning :j

I've been on and lurking for a couple of days but just haven't gotten round to replying or updating for some reason. Think I'm starting to stress a bit about going back to work next week, plus I've been partly busy.

Sunday was quiet, then I had my planned night out with my friend. All very mse, 2 for 1 drinks and the bus home (thank goodness as I barely had any cash). Still, it was after midnight by the time I got to bed and ds surpassed himself by getting up just after 6am, so Monday ended up being almost a write off. My friend and her son came round and the kids played out in the garden for most of the day.

Thankfully DH got paid yesterday, so I went out and bought the last few bits of school stuff that the kids need (including more t-shirts for ds because I cannot find the ones I'd already bought anywhere). Also booked us in for a night out on the boat on Saturday. There's a boat that cruises the river near where we live and they do a BBQ and disco on a Saturday night - we went there on his birthday last year and he loved it, so I thought it'd be nice for our first wedding anniversary.

Last night I braved myself to a boot camp class - £3. First bit of proper exercise I've done in years, and don't I know it this morning. I kept waking up during the night with cramps in my legs and I could barely get down the stairs this morning. Daft thing is that I've agreed to go again on Thursday. Hope I have recovered by then.

Today I'm off out to meet a friend for coffee and a catch up, which I'm really looking forward to.

  • Good morning everyone.
    It's payday!!!! :j:j:j
I'm pleased I can think about writing off my terrible financial August and get back to debt busting proper in September.:D

So, what has happened since I last updated? Well, I've been to 2 killer bootcamp classes, and have stupidly signed up for another at 7am tomorrow (I may regret that). I used to exercise loads before ds was born but really fell out of the habit. My legs are killing me today but I already feel a little better for doing something. :j

Oh, I WON an iPad mini. I WON!!!! I can't believe it - no strings attached, I even phoned the phone company back to be sure that I wasn't being swizzed and that it wasn't going to cost me anything. I did consider selling it for a few hours, but I've wanted an iPad for so very long that I'm going to hang onto it. I don't get much for myself so it's nice to think I can have this.

I've put £50 aside out of my pay packet to cover today. It's mine and the kids last day just the 3 of us before we get back into the school routine. I am dreading going back to work but I know that the time is right. I was so relieved by the exam results, I feel that I'm standing myself in quite good stead for the year ahead. Although I know I'm going to feel the strain of being the only chemistry teacher in my department overrun with biologists. DD back on Tuesday, and DS starts Thursday. All change, and with a bit of luck, September should be the first month that I start to see a difference in my cashflow. It's all going towards becoming debt free sooner but it'll be nice to have a little more than usual.

I've got a doctors appointment in half an hour, so he can see for himself that I'm good to go back to work, but then I'm going to ask the kids what they want to do today, and as long as it's not too 'out there' then it's their day.

Then our first wedding anniversary tomorrow. We're going out for a bbq on a boat. Looking forward to it.

Have fun on your 'last' day - we too have a few things planned to eek out what is left of time together! BBQ sounds great hope it goes well. Its our 25th next year but not sure how we will celebrate - we never have celebrated actually and I always forget which day it is anyway!

School will be fine...........seek out your allies/sounding boards. Get yourself organised and speak up if you think things are getting too much. New kid on the block maybe OK...unfortunately they are the new breed in education management........... they talk the talk etc ;)

    Hi Wannabee

I hope you enjoyed your last day just the3 of you.

Well done on the iPad win - what a fab prize and you definitely should be keeping it for yourself! You deserve it.

I really hope going back to school is okay and the doctors appointment proved you are better.

  • Just a very quick one from me to say thanks for all of your kind words and support.
Very quiet in the house tonight, thank goodness as I've been nursing a bit of a hangover for most of the day. My mum has the kids as they are not at school tomorrow.
Quite nervous but I'm as ready as I'll ever be. Lunch made and packed, bag packed, clothes out and ready etc...
I'll come on with a proper update tomorrow night.

  • Hey,

I NEVER realised how utterly hectic my life is until I got back to work. The only way I've been able to get all my real life stuff done is to cut back on the other stuff. :(
But I am starting to lose the financial plot again so I think that I really need to be on here to keep me on the straight and narrow,
Things have been really up and down since I was last on here...
I'm back at work which is good, things at home are fine, and my iPad mini is fantastic.
The car broke and cost over £700 to fix and keep on the road, which wiped out all of my emergency fund as well as most of my Christmas fund. Thankfully when our garden fence blew down my stepdad came and fixed it free of charge, and I replaced our bathroom light switch and fitting myself when it stopped working.
I'm now in a panic about the fact that Christmas is 2 months away and I am literally living hand to mouth and can't put anything to one side. I know presents are not the be all and end all, but I do have a 5 year old and a 9 year old so it can't be cancelled altogether.
    Anyone any bright ideas?

Just read through your diary. Hope work is going ok for you. I work as a special needs tutor which is not a stressful as being a proper teacher but know how :eek::eek: it can be with all the paperwork and politics.

Would like to help with ideas for Christmas but only have one thing so far, road tax to renew in November and no money. So I may loiter to steal ideas which other clever folks give you.

By the way, the beginning of the diary was lovely. All that talk about hot weather....oh the memories. It chucking it down here today and really cold. Boo hiss.
