If it's done under green deal then mse says:
The loan is attached to your home's electricity bill, not you. So if you sell or rent it out, the new occupiers will make the Green Deal payments through their bills, in exactly the same way as you do
That's wrong, you are talking about a gree deal loan!
The question is about green deal Eco, which is a grant and you don't have to pay back."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -

Has anyone gone through getting a free boiler or free insulation and then sold their house?
If anyone has any information on this I would be very greatful0 -
hey!!!
(Student and private) tenants here, and was wondering if we'd be eligible for a free boiler??
All of us are students. No one has an actual income
Just wondering what companies used, (If we could even get it as well) ie: so that we can get a boiler that actually works hopefully!!! (Not this system where we have to basically heat a tank and only have the heating on for two hours/day)0 -
Hi dear MSE Forum peeps,
I have a leasehold flat in the council owned block of flats which is dating from 1930s so you can imagine how much energy we are loosing through cavity walls and very old windows which Wandsworth Council for some reason doesn't want to change (They said they might look into it around 2020!!! ). We have residents association so we are keen to do something about it on our own.
Does anyone have similar experiences?
In the latest MSE Free Insulation and Boilers guide it is mentioned that "Council and housing association homes have their own schemes, so aren’t included" in the standard free insulation schemes.
However, I couldn't find any info about these energy schemes.
Can someone help please?
All the best,

Does anyone know of any companies that offer the free boiler for LPG boilers? We were promised one last year (on tax credits, income below leval etc) - but after months and months they came back to us and said, 'oh, just realised it's lpg, sorry we don't do those'!!!, we can't go to normal gas as there is no mains here, our boiler is inefficient (confirmed by said company) - we use a 47kg of gas each week and that is just with the heating on for an hour in the morning and 2 hours in the evening - we can't afford it on the rest of the time else a bottle would only last a few days and at £60 a bottle its just too expensive. Thanks in advance0

Does anyone still know if they can get a free boiler and then move home without penalties? Are there any rules written anywhere on this?
Thanks0 -
If it's a free boiler under a government scheme such as ECO that also confers ownership of the boiler then I don't see how that would be a problem.
If it's under the Green Deal (which is NOT a free boiler), see http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/green-deal#8
If it's a rent a boiler scheme then I guess it's more complicated and you'll have to talk to the supplier.0 -
We have just had our gas boiler condemned and have no money to replace it. Both my son and I are on DLA but no other benefits as my husband works. I have mobility issues and my son is autistic. Our boiler is 13years old and the flue also needs replacing. The boiler is efficiency D. There are a total of 2children in the house.
Has anyone been in a similar position and received a free boiler. If so who is the best to approach ????????? Our bills are astronomical and we are seriously struggling ?????0 -

You should be enititled to a free boiler. Apply for the ECO gant and everything should be free for you.SECRET OF SUCCESS IN LIFE:

I have just been told today by Solent Green Deal that the "pot of money" supposedly to help with insulation / free boilers etc has run out in all the big energy companies?????
Could this explain the reticence of NPower to supply me with a new boiler and the inability to supply me with a copy of the Technical Report from their chosen provider claiming it contains sensitive information? They haven't even contacted me with the energy report or the Technical reports I had to call them on each occasion.
I have been trying to deal with this company for months and I am getting no where. The Energy advice company were of no help either nor were the people they passed me to DECC.
No one wants to take responsibilty and no one wants to regulate this scheme they all just want their own cut and basically pass the buck when there is an issue.
I am stunned at how easy you make it sound on your web site Mr Lewis because it is anything but easy and as the saying goes "nothing in this life is free"0
