Last September [2013] I received a call from Sprint in Kilmarnock offering free boiler scheme. They arrived a few days later, did survey and installed within 2 weeks. All seemed fine. I was not asked to contribute any money. Since then it has been a bit of a nightmare with 10 engineers being at my home because of problems with boiler.
It has mainly been water pressure dropping, then water pressure rising. This week particularly difficult with staff being rude and talking to me as if I am a moron. Can you tell me if there is a way to complain with government guidelines? I know I did not pay for my boiler but others have paid through their taxes for my benefit and I have had nothing but problems with some engineers actually saying they do not know the boiler and having to arrange for others to come out! Thanks!

Well British Gas won't do mine as it was built within the last 25 years.

They say I already have it. I most definitely don't!

Shame really as so many around me have had it done due to being on a qualifying benefit. Alas, I'm not, so can't have it :(
  • So after 2 weeks I got a call back from them (they initially said they'll call within 3 days)

Now waiting for them to come around to do a survey. They said I did it through MoneySavingExpert site (which i did) so does that mean i can still get the £50 gift voucher, as the offer hasnt expired (supposed to be 29th August)? The survey will be done in September :/

Some people are saying its expired or whatnot so im kinda confused

I too am wondering about this. I've just moved into a new property that doesn't have its cavities filled so want to get them done. Called the number provided by MSE and the first appointment is 8th September for a survey.

Does this mean I still qualify for the £50 card as I applied before the deadline? [ If indeed there are any left! ]

Just to be clear this scheme is not funded through taxes, it is funded by the biggest 9 energy companies. So if you don't buy your energy off them your not contributing to it but can still use it.

This scheme falls under the green deal so you have a couple of options the installers accreditation companies or the green deal over site and registration body. Contact details for both can be found on the green deal participants register.

It is .. .. funded by taxes, paid by every single householder in these islands and we have been paying these taxes and filling their coffers plus interest for two decades to the energy companies in the form of a levy - are you saying that the levy is .. .. not a tax ?

    - the big 6 have spent about 2% of the tax collected in the last 20 years thus far - where has the money gone
    - why are they in charge of helping anyone save money on their bills and depriving themselves of profit
    - the big 6 will always do standard cavity and loft, other room in roofs, HTT and EWI will not get a look in
    - what has happened to the tens of thousands of measures squandered and stolen from the fuel poor) for the AWO
    - what's the point of putting a new efficient boiler in a poorly insulated property, it wastes fuel [Carbon] and it costs too much on bills [Fuel Poverty]
    - cherry picking the cheap & easy completely ignores ignore the major issue of fuel poverty
    - ECO continues to line the pockets of the unscrupulous whilst failing to address the needs of those most deserving of a safety net
    - ECO & GD are not servicing the health and well being of hundreds if not millions living in damp, cold fuel poverty conditions - disgusting !

It is not paid by everyone one, you can choose not to pay towards the eco scheme by not using an obligated energy supplier.

Have you driven round a poor area recently and seen how many solid walled homes have been insulated, there are a lot.

A new boiler will actually save more money in a poorly insulated house than a well insulated house. Because it is making more heat more efficiently than an old boiler... Pretty simple stuff....

Who is getting rich out of eco, it is a very competitive market with narrow margins.

Thousands of people have been benefiting from eco and the green deal, I know because my company has installed thousands of measures through the two schemes.

A lot of what your saying isn't true for this scheme, it may be true of previous schemes but not the energy companies obligation.
