I checked the criteria and I would appear to qualify for a new boiler, seeing as my boiler is 40 years old and I am on DLA, working and child tax credit, low income and daughter in full time education. Imagine my surprise when E-On rang and said no I cant have a new boiler (without even doing a survey!!) because my old one is still "working". Surely that can't be right??S0

They didn't ask how much WFTC I received - they were only interested in my salary - so I think you are wrong about this. Why would it apply in some cases and not others?0 -

Can anyone advise whether the Boiler Grant qualifying threshold is £15,860 plus your child/tax credits or is it your earnings including tax credits? Also do you have to get it done by your energy supplier or can you source if from another one? Thanks in advance0

We applied to Blue Flame in Colchester. We were assessed and found eligible. We were made lots of promises and they were extremely nice to get our custom. They said we could have it on a certain wall and that if we had a couple of radiators done at the same time they would do it for £250. We never got a written quote for this which should have rung alarm bells but it didn't.
We waited a very long time for the work, at least 6 months but i figured free things take a while. It was a messy job and they left a mess. My husband asked to keep the copper tank but they said they take all waste materials (they didn't say it but reason is because metals are worth money!!) So he hid it in a locked shed!
They claimed we had only asked for one radiator and called us liars so we ended up with no radiators.
This was back in July2013. I thought they were out of my life forever until a month ago we noticed that the radiator valve they had replaced was leaking. We have a great big shoe box in front of that radiator and laminate flooring and the leak was the slightest drip, otherwise we would have noticed it sooner. On moving the box we found that the floor was discoloured and warped and the box was stained.
We complained and after two engineers attempts they finally fixed the radiator but they claim the leak cant have been there since July and us not notice and that it is more likely to have been caused by the vibrations of the shoe box!
What do people think of this arguement? Any plumbers out there who could advise? We obviously want to fight this.
My hubby did all the other rads in the house himself and not one of them has leaked despite him not being trained. And the box had been there a long time before with no problems.Wins so far: Jar of Nesquik, LoveTub pudding, Strada Reviewer.

It would appear that I am not entitled to claim a free boiler, despite receipt of pension and WTC - because I do not have a gas supply to my home! At the moment I am (relatively) happy with the 27 year-old oil fired boiler - but it would appear that if and when it does refuse to work, I'll not be entitled to any assistance with changing it!0

UPDATE
We originally had our energy survey carried out on 22nd August last year (Dyson for EDF) and had a query re proof of ownership a month later. I was told our case had to be audited by EDF before final clearance was granted. Hearing nothing more, I had forgotten all about scheme!
Today Dyson have phoned and arranged a technical survey for 3rd Feb. I'm convinced that they will say the boiler is in the wrong place or the pipes are the wrong size and request a wodge of cash to install a new boiler, so I'm not getting my hopes up!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0 -

who paid for the work? I would email the CEO of that company and see if that gets any results.0 -
Hi, I would like to apply for cavity wall insulation under the 'Hard to treat' scheme.
I am not in receipt of any benefits but I live in a concrete construction home which some websites say is classed as hard to treat.
Do you know if I will be eligible for the grant?
EDIT: I have since submitted my details to Home Insulation Grants for a call back, has anyone had any dealings with them?0
