I would try a combination of our old favs Spybot, AdAware, and maybe even Hijackthis which I believe are all freeware, or at least have free versions.

That should rid you of most of the trojans/spyware and other assorted malware.

    Hope that helps.

    Regards,

    Thanks for all your replies.

I tried a restore to a few earlier dates and it went thru the motions and then said unable to restore to the requested point GGRRRRR.

Also thanks for the other suggestions.Do you have a link to any trusted sites that have what you suggest White ?

Is there any more information about the Trojan Downloader, please? Might help some of us to find the right solution.

More importantly, how did you get a trojan on your system? Do you have a firewall?

Yes I do have firewall and anti virus.I am a bit annoyed as that should have stopped it.It all seems to have happened after the BT Broadband latest update download. It comes up when i run BT anti spy but when i run the ez virus protection (also BT supplied) it does not find it.

    Any help would be great,.thanks

It might not be a trojan. It might be something "unknown" in the BT update that BT Anti-Spy <thinks> is a trojan. I know this sounds bizarre, but anti-spyware relies on someone defining rules as to what a trojan might be. When a new trojan is identified, then it's identity is added to the rules as "definitely a trojan".

Are there any BT forums? Is it worth a look there? If it is related to the BT update, you can bet there'll be plenty of people on the BT forums bellowing about it.

Otherwise, does BT Anti Spy come up with a name of this trojan or something to identify it?
