What on earth do you mean by that?!
All my other savings are in Internet access only accounts. In the event that my bank's IT went belly up, I would not be able to get cash for the duration. The Nationwide account is a branch/passbook account I can use in that eventuality.

I have a 15-year Loyalty Saver Issue 1. I had been notified a few weeks ago that the interest rate would be reducing from 2.1% to 1.7% on 1st Feb. Tonight I received an email notifying me that the interest rate on my 5-year Loyalty Saver (which I don't have) would be reducing from 1.7% to 1.5% on 1st Feb.

Good to know that Nationwide has everything so well organised!

It comes to something when you can get a savings account with the same bank offering more interest than you can be paying on your mortgage!

Doesn't sound like a sustainable model though really does it?

It's not, but I can overpay the mortgage by 10%, or put £1k per month into a regular saver. The later is a better idea for the next year or so or until something changes. It's like an offset mortgage, but you actually get more interest back than what you pay out.

I'm currently filling in an R85 form, and I have to put in the sort code and account number for my different Nationwide accounts.

Each account has a 6 digit sort code and an 8 digit a/c number.

The loyalty saver has a 4 digit number, followed by a 9 digit number.

Is the 4 digit number my sort code and the 9 digit one my a/c number or am I looking for something else?

You appear to be looking at your individual "Account Number/Reference"

If you have a Passbook, Sortcode and Nationwides Bank Account Number should be above that, for R85 purposes ignore Nationwides Bank Account Number, if make payment into the account by BACS then quote Sortcode, Nationwides B/A Number/ Your Account Number

I have just received notification that the rate on 15-Year Loyalty Saver Issue 1 is to be reduced from 1.70%% to 1.50% from 1st October.
