The travel insurance with the Flexaccount is better for me than the £100 interest (first year only) with the Flexdirect.

    .

Nationwide allow more than one current account to be opened so those who both benefit from travel insurance and 5% for 12 months can have both accounts.

In fact the only reason I opened a current account with NW was to make it easier to get money out of the Loyalty account.

That seems to be aiming a bit short - why did you not have a FlexDirect?

I have Flexdirect and Flexplus so I get the insurances as well as the interest.

FD comes to an end shortly though but I'll be using the money for house purchase so no need to worry about finding another account.

You didn't actually. The question still stands - why did you not have a FlexDirect (may be alongside a FlexAccount). It seems a great shame to pass on 5% interest.

In fairness, 2010 may not have realised that having both accounts was an option. (S)he does now :)

I opened the latest issue a couple of weeks ago and they told me as I had over 15 years of savings the rate would be 1.7%. Has that changed now?

Cheers ColdIron - I have issue 4 as well. I did get a letter about old e-Savings Plus dropping but nothing yet about the (15 year) LS. Will keep my finger near the transfer button in case they're working their way through the 15 year ones...

Seems I am wrong about this. According to CS today, when I phoned up CS at the start of September about this, the Issue 5 rates did not affect the Issue 4, and presumably others. Since 5th September Nationwide have announced that the Issue 4 rates are also dropping. Apologies if I have mislead anyone
My loyalty saver 15 year issue 4 has just dropped from 1.7 to 1.5 as per ColdIron post. Wouldn't have realised if it wasn't for this forum.
No notification from NW. (This is the first time that I have not received notification)

I have, since 2009 regarded NW as crap for saving`s rates despite their "on your side, no shareholders to pay" propaganda.
I too, took out a "loyalty saver" at 1.7% only to find 6 weeks later that rate has been chopped to 1.5%.
The only thing I can say about my opening of the LS and a Flexacccount is it`s better than my other online saver/current acc. with the Halifax, and that`s not saying a lot!

So who is currently paying better than 1.5%, without bonus, instant access and no annoying conditions?
