I've only just found out today that my holiday request has been accepted, however yesterday I was told that numbers etc have been submitted to the hotel for meals etc which makes it sound too late.0

They book a wedding on a working day, you tried to get the day off work in a new job. You inform them you are unable to get the day off but would like to get a present, and they get all funny with you.
I personally would save the day off for a time for you.
Thats what I would do as well.0 -

Any ideas why?
Did you explaine your reasons when you declined?
How well do you 'normally' get on with your imm family and family circle?Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -

Just go to the evening?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Just be honest. Tell them it has now been accepted, would they still like you to attend, not to push themselves and cause upset trying to slot you in, and you will attend wherever they would like you to (which would probably be the evening do I suppose)
If the numbers were only submitted yesterday though, I don't see why an amendment 24 hours after submissions couldn't be supported, unless the hotel were strict and/or awkward (delete as appropriate)
If you don't want to go, don't go. We had our wedding on a week day and knew people would have to book the day off so we really understood when they couldn't book it. That's the risk you take with a midweek wedding and it's not very good of them to be 'funny' about it.0 -

If you know that they will react well to this, I would second this method.
If it will provoke more problems from them, I would tell work that you don't need the day off any more and leave things as they are.0 -
You should go, remember they are under enormous stress with wedding arrangements, I doubt they're meaning to be nasty to you, if you now have the day off, you should go and enjoy and it avoids any bitterness, it's their day remember, not yours.0

I'd not go.. because they were snotty about you being unable to get the time off initially..
If you have an invite to the evening do I'd possibly go then..
I hate weddings anyway.. (none so much as my own).. so I'd do almost anything to get out of it lol.. I'd probably have not even asked for the time off and just told them it had been declined
But really you have 3 choices.. speak to them, tell the truth and say you are now free do they want you to go or is it too much hassle with catering which you understand etc... or just go out for the day enjoy yourself and go to the evening do.. Or just don't go at all.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Numbers can still be amended, get on the phone now and tell them you have told your employer how important this was to you;) and they have agreed to the day off.0

I'm sure adding on 1 would be no problem the kitchen often makes a few extra anyway especially at weddings where sometimes you need to feed the Dj etc0
