Yesterday I too wrote to YBS, linking to this thread, initially on the related topic of their First Time Buyer savings account bonus. My email has apparently been forwarded to the appropriate department at Head Office.
I see the talented Kazza has also written to YBS. Hopefully the answers will be provided here soonish.0 -
I've also written to YBS via email. No response yet.0

here's their response to my email...
Thank you for your e-mail.
Any payments received in August 2007 will be payments for the second year as the 12th payment for year one is July.
If you do not want to continue with the account for a second year you do not need to deposit any funds in August.
Please note the interest will be paid upon maturity.
If you have any further queries then please contact us on 0845 1 200 100. Our hours of opening are detailed below.

interest paid on maturity sounds as if hes thinking about the 3 year closed issue reg saver although principle is the same 12 months finishes in july like he says, 1st payment in august is 1st of next anniversary year, but question is still the same can they start new year on 1st of august 2007 or do they have to wait until anniversary is complete ie on ar after day they opened account in august, my belief is that it should be the latter cos thats when the interest is paid so 1st year of next anniversary year should follow the ending of the first year0 -
Several days ago I gave Yorkshire Bdg Soc a direct link to this thread, so hopefully they are monitoring input...and maybe they will respond.0

OK, so the first account year ends early if the account is opened part-way through a month. If they had stated that 'An account year starts from the beginning of the month the account was opened', then everything would have made perfect sense.0 -
Spec, remind me when your first deposit was please?

YBS also have a member panel/forum which they use to gather feedback - dunno how good it is but I've accepted their invite (others here have probably also received one) to participate, so we shall see...

yep i accepted the invite as well, its interesting cos it gives an idea of what products yorkshire BS might be planning in the future although they are relying people not to post details of what they send as the products have not reached finalisation at that time so are not meant for public knowledge0
