No Android 4.2.2 updates for HTC One S

Funny thing is the One XL (and the US version of the One X) are internally identical to the One S, and you can bet they will be getting the update.0

You shouldn't be buying a phone in the hope of future upgrades, you should buy it because of how it works now.
That way you won't be disappointed when an optional upgrade doesn't happen.
Yes I know most phones these days have a lifespan of 6 months before being superseded by the next best thing and I would not be too bothered if HTC did not state that the One S would get the update, which raised my hopes only to be dashed.
Again.
Like they did to me with the HTC Desire and then HTC Desire HD and probably will do to me next year when I get the One.0 -

Yes I do like the Nexus path for upgrades (I have a Nexus 7) but one thing that does lack from Google is the UX that HTC provides. It is just smoother and they put out software like Blinkfeed and Zoe which will be missing on the Nexus version of the HTC One.0 -

Dress it up how you want but the fact remains they reneged on a promise. Do we at least agree on that?
Of course it's pretty poor on HTC's part, I just can't get worked up because an old budget phone didn't get the upgrade.
I suppose we should separate the broken promise (very bad CS) from the actual issue of an older superseded phone not getting upgraded.====0 -
The One S was never a budget phone!0

There seems to be a lot around about wanting the 'latest' version of Android, where I'm sure a lot of people don't have the slightest clue of what it brings to the table, which is, imo very little, and not really anything to get worked up about.
I for one am glad that this phone isn't getting sense 5, it's ugly, they have gone to more of a stock android look and it's really not that nice.
Saying that, I don't care what software they come with anyway, as it's usually rooted as soon as it comes out the box, and then a more feature rich room put on.
But I don't buy HTC phones to get the latest updates, I buy them for their excellent build quality and for that 'premium' feel, when compared to say Samsungs flagship phones, the HTC phones feel much more like a premium phone.
Of late I've gone solely for HTC phones, from the desire > sensation > one s (current) > probably the HTC one as an upgrade pretty soon, and every one has met my expectations.0 -
I'm with MB about HTC fulfilling their promises. If they said they were going to do something then they should do it.
If however HTC never promised then that's fine. And i agree with the posters above, there is no compelling reason to always have the latest version of android. If however there are major bugs in a phones firmware then i expect the manufacturer (Cough, sony, Cough) to update the firmware. But otherwise it doesn't matter.0 -

Sony have been pretty timeous with updates recently.
My Xperia Z got 4.2.2 when they said it would.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.
