No Android 4.2.2 updates for HTC One S
From HTC:
"We can confirm that the HTC One S will not receive further Android OS updates and will remain on the current version of Android and HTC Sense. We realize this news will be met with disappointment by some, but our customers should feel confident that we have designed the HTC One S to be optimized with our amazing camera and audio experiences."

This happens, older models don't always get the newest firmware for a variety of reasons.====0

I think the trouble is HTC promised that the One S would get the upgrade like the One X as they came out at the same time last year. But to be honest this is typical HTC and one of the reasons I might not get the HTC One despite being in love with it.0 -
You should still get the Google apps update with new maps etc due soon .

Even putting aside the incredible price, yet more reason to consider the Google Nexus 4 - guaranteed updates before any other make of Android phone. HTC are simply awful at promising stuff that doesn't happen.0

You shouldn't be buying a phone in the hope of future upgrades, you should buy it because of how it works now.
That way you won't be disappointed when an optional upgrade doesn't happen.====0 -

I simply don't agree. If HTC promised a future upgrade to the latest OS and that influenced their customers' decision to buy so that's wholly unacceptable behaviour from HTC.0 -
Cyanogenmod will give you all the updates you want :-)0

The phone was out around 10 months before 4.2.2, so it's doubtful many customers were influenced by or promised something that didn't exist when they bought it.
There might be a small number of people who perhaps bought it in the promise in the last few months, but it has been sold as a budget handset in that time so I would expect most got it because of its cheapness on contract, rather than a future update.
If the update was that important, the customer should perhaps have bought the current model?Cyanogenmod will give you all the updates you want :-)
Agreed, there are many alternatives for older phones at XDA Developers.====0 -

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree but maybe I'm old fashioned - if i promise summat I deliver. Plus talking of 'small number' how many HTC One S owners do you think would be comfortable modding their phone unofficially?
Dress it up how you want but the fact remains they reneged on a promise. Do we at least agree on that?0
