Great thanks, I hadn't re-read all the previous posts but you could have said see post whatever a few replies ago.. Alice's Wonderland now on the avoid list though thankfully hadn't bothered with that before anyway by the looks of it.0

"each completed task earns you entries into the giveaway. (Some tasks are worth more than others)"
Just a little addition as I've stumbled across another rafflecopter that runs the same way as I suggested with all mandatory options having to be completed to stand a chance of winning

I suggest you just check the terms of each rafflecopter as everyone that runs them obviously interprets them differently0 -
Hi, I had to log out of FB to see it, because I've completed all entries for this already. What I'm wondering is what makes you think it's run the way you described? To me it looks like you can earn 10 entries by tweeting the first entry. And/or 5 entries each for any of the next 3. I don't see anywhere it says that you have to complete all the first 4 entries in order for any entry to count.
What is does say is that you have to complete the first 4 entries if you want to progress to the next ones - which is what me and the others have been saying.
So you can do any or all of the first entries. Whichever you do will count. But if you want to do the next ones, then you have to have done all four of the first ones first.

Oh yes, I can see that now. Rats! I didn't need to log out to see that. Yes I concede it does look that way. I suppose as long as it states that, then they have the right to do it that way. I still think it's a bit daft to set it up like that, when it means people will waste time entering and you will have to go through cancelling entries, but as you say, it's your choice. As long as it's openly stated then what more can one say?
You are right and I was wrong - there I said it

Sometimes you need more than one mandatory entry say if your competition is being sponsored and the prize giver wants entrants to do more than one thing.
I guess I just assume most bloggers will tell you in the terms as I do and the above blog has, but I'd be wary of other blogs as you don't know for sure if they are running it the same way and just not mentioning it if that makes sense?0 -
So we need to really read each one carefully. Whilst looking into this and trying to find an answer, I noted that at the bottom of the rafflecopter widget, there is a link to terms and conditions. Some are really detailed, but others say hardly anything.0

So it's probably best to do all the 'first entries' before others unlock.
There's so much to rafflecopters!!I'm glad I wasn't the only one unsure

That's why I couldn't see it. The important bit wasn't in the T&C it was in the writing leading up the comp. TBH, we can either read these carefully, or just say stuff it and go for it. Sometimes it's quicker to enter and forget about it - like with the one that Fortuna sited. I had done all the entries anyway. I do that sometimes when I'm not sure what a prize is. It's quicker to just enter than to read up on stuff for every comp.

I've done a bit of investigating here as it's a very interesting topic. When you first see a Rafflecopter giveaway, either:
• There are visible mandatory tasks, which when completed will unlock additional optional tasks
• ALL the visible entry tasks are optional
• ALL the visible entry tasks are mandatory
The problem is - the Rafflecopter widgets for those bottom two would look exactly the same! So the only way for you to know whether the tasks were all mandatory, or all optional, would be if the blogger/promoter has explained it elsewhere. I've emailed Rafflecopter to suggest that an Optional/Mandatory flag could be added to each task to make it clear to the entrant.
Where there are multiple mandatory tasks, you can only complete ONE of these and that entry will STILL be registered as a valid entry on the Rafflecopter spreadsheet of entries. Although really, the widget should be set so that when the competition closes, anyone who has not done all the mandatory tasks is automatically excluded from the list of entries - I've also suggested this to Rafflecopter.
When Rafflecopter chooses a random winner, it chooses one line of the spreadsheet - so only a single specific task. Some bloggers will just check that task was completed correctly - for example, leaving a blog post - before announcing the winner. Most bloggers will go into more detail and check that every entry from that person was valid - at this point, if there was more than a single mandatory entry, the bloggers should check that ALL mandatory tasks were completed by the winner. If not, a new winning entry should be chosen.
Some bloggers will moderate ALL Rafflecopter entries before doing the random draw. Most bloggers don't have time for that, but will usually at least scroll through the IP addresses to check for multiple entries from the same person using different identities - and exclude them from the draw.
Personally, I would like to see promoters and bloggers sticking to a SINGLE mandatory entry, or several optional entries. The mandatory entry should be one that only requires logging in with an email address. By adding Facebook, Twitter, Bloglovin' and Pinterest options as mandatory tasks that's excluding a lot of possible entrants!
So, my advice is - if there are multiple tasks listed WITHOUT the 'unlock' text, and you don't or can't complete them all, check the T&Cs or blog post to see whether they're mandatory or not.
Hope this helps.0
