Rafflecopter Help

Thanks for that, interesting. And clearly you know much more than me about the pesky things. At risk of sounding defensive - which I'm not, honest
I still think it's better to go ahead with whichever you can do, rather than not doing them. Even if dafties like me get a few things wrong, it's still winnable. I got a WEM last night from one, and a Harrods hamper last year from the lovely Helen at Fuss Free Flavours. So if in doubt, still go for it.
Good luck all

Me again. I thought I'd email to check on the one I posted above.
Her (lightening fast) repy:
"They would still count in the competition. They are just extra entries but all entries are counted whether you enter them all or not as it is all picked at random. Rafflecopter just gives the option to offer this so if the entrant wishes to enter more for a better chance to win they can do so.
Of course it's entirely up to you how many you decide to enter.
Hope that make sense and good luck
Kerry"
That doesn't take away what you said though Fortuna. Because if you do it that way, I'm sure you are not the only one.
Nellie, don't be confused by our discussion, or put off. I suggest you have a read of fortuna's excellent write up about them, but regardless, have a go at entering them without worrying too much about it. Even if only as a learning thing. And let us know what/when you win.

That's not how I know rafflecopter to work Blu,
The entries that show first are the compulsory ones which all need to be completed to unlock other entries, if you only do one of them you could be excluded.
For example my latest competition the first two entries were leaving a blog comment and following on bloglovin. If people only did one of these their entry was removed
I've been doing it on the same lines as Blulu and it never entered my head that the entries I chose to do weren't valid unless I entered them all  I hadn't seen anything on any of these comps say that unless you did every option then it would be removed and logically it looked to me as though you can enter as many options as you like and gain that number of entries. It therefore to me seems misleading of it being run in the way you said. I don't use all the various things so thought as long as I did the entries relating to ie follow on facebook, blog comment whatever those counted (and I don't tend to use GFC or whatever so ignored those).
Maybe you would like to highlight the ones you run so I can avoid them! (presuming all the other blogs don't run them along the same lines??).
Totally confused now!
I have won on Rafflecopter before but admittedly don't like them so don't enter many. Might avoid even more if it turns out I've been wasting my time and having entries removed for not doing every step!0 -
Thank you all for your help! I guess we all do different things!
I shall just do everything.Then I can't go wrong!!
The link you gave was really helpful fortuna! Thanks xxx

Certainly let me know your name and I'll be sure to exclude you from any of my competitions. As it's my blog I can choose to run it how I like.
Just to show it depends which blog you go on here's a link to another rafflecopter

As you see within the instructions its stated the mandatory entry needs to be completed first so confirming how I assumed rafflecopters were ran.0 -

As I said when you pm'd me, I need to know the name of the blog, so I can avoid it. If I don't know the blog name I may still enter and be wasting my time. There's no point blocking me if I don't know what site it is!
That example just has 1 mandatory entry so not really the same. We all know that there are mandatory entries which can unlock other entries, but what I would like established is, if there is a list of initial entries if they all have to definitely be completed or else we get excluded. Is that actually correct or just your own interpretation? ie how many blogs do this.
If anyone can shed any light on whether this is the same with other blogs, maybe we can have a list of others to avoid if required.
Edit - I'm not going to bother replying to both your pm's and thread comments, just discussed in the open is best as I am sure other people will also be interested in clearing up this confusion.0 -
Unless we go round and ask anyone who has ever run a rafflecopter ever your not going to get a 'definite' answer.
Also I don't see what your saying is different to what I said? I stated that any entries already showing are the mandatory ones on rafflecopters that have entries to be unlocked. Whether that be 1 entry or 5 what's the difference?

Just three examples where one or more mandatory option is required to be completed to get any entry into the competition.0 -

It was the difference between what blulu posted earlier and what I believed also and when you corrected blulu, ie we understand there are mandatory entries that unlock other entries (IF we want to do all the entries, otherwise we get the set amount of entries per item completed only)
But you say mandatory entries that ALL have to be completed to gain entry into the competition at all, or you exclude people (not that they just unlock other entries)
If all Rafflecopters run theirs the same way I will avoid them all.. that is what I would like to establish.
As I said, the way you run yours is very misleading.0 -
The way I run mine is the same as all the other I've posted on this thread...
I'd assume 'mandatory' would mean exactly that for example if a facebook competition needed you to "like and share" then only doing one of these won't get you entered if that makes sense?0 -
I am confused now too. I don't have facebook. If there was a rafflecopter competition and there were about 20 various ways of entering, but only two were visible at the outset and these two happened to be facebook and a comment on the blog to unlock the others, I understand that as I don't have facebook, I would not be able to unlock the other 18 methods, but I thought that in most cases, if I were to comment on the blog, that might enable me to have at least a miniscule chance of winning. I think that I will start paying more attention to the terms and conditions on each blog. If the terms and conditions clearly state that to have any chance at all, then you must complete not just one, but both of the first two, then that is fair enough, but if this is not clearly stated, then I find that is misleading.0
