Lost wheel nut key

Had mine done recently and it wasn't the grip of the tool on the bolt that was the problem, it was that the bolt was so tight it had almost welded itself to the hub. That's what comes of going to crap garages (National Tyres comes to mind) who tighten the bolts with an air gun instead of torquing them to the correct value. Ironically enough it's exactly this that strips the locking nuts in the first place. Even the crappier ones will last a good 5 years if they're used properly.0

Someone on eBay selling new nuts & key 9.99, 406 sold. Worth a punt? The just have to pay a garage to remove & fit.0

Did you get any manuals with the car ? sometimes it has a keycode for the locking nuts on a slip in the books.Be happy...;)0

Will have to check but doubt it - I remember invoice for the vehicle, various service paperwork & manual
Wonder if its worth ringing the original dealer incase it's on their database?
Then again if generic ones are 9.99, is it worth the hassle0 -
Ordered 4nuts & key for tenner. Just hope they don't mess up taking wheels off or charge a fortune for the time0

My mate works for a large tyre/exhaust fitters, he got the locking nuts off my partners KA in a matter of minutes, Ford clover leaf style too.
All you need is a cheap smaller socket, hammer it on and then air gun it off.
When you get replacements try and get the McGard ones that Ford use as the ones in the photo below are far too easy to remove on the roadside.0 -
have you ordered new locking wheel nuts or plain wheel bolts, imo just don't get locking wheel nuts incase you loose them you'll will have problems like this again.
locking wheel nuts are different that is why they have codes, that is why ford could not sell you a new locking wheel nut key.0 -

Ford won't but McGard (who make them for Ford) will. But you need the code and possibly other documents.
I wouldn't recommend putting standard nuts on in place of locking nuts on a long term basis, you are just asking for trouble. Why make it easy for criminals?
Go to a local indie tyre fitter and get them to air gun the old nuts of as I described earlier then get yourself a set of McGard cloverleaf pattern locking nuts, about £20-£25.0 -
Simple... Cheap "Smash On" Undersized socket.. Knock it on with a hammer and undo as you would any other wheel nut. No need for drama or air.0

when was the last time you have a alloy wheel removed, while sitting on your drive?
i don't think these wheels the op has are anything expensive, for money saving normal wheel bolts will do0
