Rang ford they said I'd need a ref no starting with 8 which would be on the lock key or packet which I don't have

    Thus !!!!ed

Option appears to be get the £77 tyre and hope I don't need other tyres ever bloody changing because they will charge me service and parts for changing the other 3 nuts it seems & £77 is too high to start

My local tyre fitter has a large bucket full of wheel nut keys, I always thought this was the norm.......

I would have thought that when it was supplied new the locking key number, along with lots of other vehicle info, would have been recorded in Ford's systems somewhere associated with the VIN. Maybe I have too much faith. :D

Are they not specific to each car?

This place says it has a tool & won't danamage the tyre so will get it & fitted & balanced tomorrow

New set of nuts etc Is £54 apparently so I won't bother with the rest

Don't intend on getting rid of the car & so will just change them when they wear down

I got my locking nuts for the Vectra on ebay, genuine VX locking nuts for £5. When a car is scrapped, the lock nuts are one of those things that get stripped and sold on, £54 is a complete joke!

So what do I need to do ?

Get 4 new nuts & keys for my focus (by model?) & get someone to replace them ?

That's what i'd do, you can't leave it forever. There will be a tool somewhere that can remove them, for some reason I had Mondeo in my head, but it's all the same.

I spotted some nut removers on Ebay earlier (for Focus/Mondeo/C-max), for if people lose their key. I can't tell you if they work or not because I don't know what your wheel nuts look like.

The snap on one has pins on springs and a threaded head, they work as quick as the key does.
Having the correct tools is usually a good indication on the standard of work you will get.
A tyre place without a locking wheel nut remover tool is a joke, they are about £70 for the bit.
    Be happy...;)

Yeh 2 tyre places didn't have it, useless

    Getting the tyre done tomorrow

Not in a rush after that as need the car for Friday & beyond for work & doubt I'll get new nuts (!) in time

    It's a zetec 05 (mk2) with standard alloys

Not paying for a remover because I'd fuvk it up & don't have a clue
