A very costly 0% expiry date error!

I've just today realised that what I thought was a 0% interest rate expiry date of 24 July 2013 was in fact 2012!

To my horror and immense frustration, today I have gone back through my statements on line covering the past 12 months and found that Tesco has been merrily charging me £80+ every month on what I had always believed was an interest free card!

Is there anything I can do to get these charges back? Anything?

I am so disgusted with myself for just giving my family's money away and the bank happily bleeding me dry and making no real effort to alert me to what was clearly an 'error / oversight' on my part! I have not used the card once in the period I have had it!:mad::mad:

How on earth are the bank supposed to know that it was "clearly an error". Get real.

The £80 a month isn't charges but interest, sadly you owe it and won't get the money back.

Transfer your balance ASAP and consider it a lesson learnt I'm afraid.

Tesco were charging you interest as per your agreement with them and as per the terms and conditions you signed.

No. There isn't any way to claim it back - you aren't owed a penny. No one has bled you dry, just charged an appropriate APR that you agreed for them to charge.

As hippychick states, just get the balance transferred ASAP and consider it a lesson learned.

This is exactly why these offers exist - in the hope that people will either forget to pay them off or get sucked in and want to carry on spending and thereby end up paying interest.

There's no being "Sucked in" at all; interest is a rarely-avoided fact of credit and one clearly advertised on all and any credit related products.

All the credit card adverts I see advertise the standard APR in bigger letters than anything else...

Well done for joining MSE. You need to get right into it. Not many would go a whole year without checking a cc statement. I am sure we can have you converted.
