Don't think wheel clamping companies can issue fines... they can hold you to ransom with a wheelclamp sure enough, but actually write you a fine? No don't think so! Check your ticket... if it's issued by your local authority then cough up. Provided you were in the wrong obviously.
If you are sure that you are not wrong then I'd fight them...

    Oh, for Pete's sake!

If you can afford to run a car, you can afford to pay for parking. And if you don't like it, just get a bicycle.

    Hello,

I was wondering whether someone can kindly advice me what I can do with a parking fine, that is issued by the wheel-clamping company?

There was a sign, but it doesnt state the times and the ticket was issued at 22:16, should I try and appeal or just simply pay up and be careful next time?

    I have looked online http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/driving/article1049167.ece?token=null&offset=24

also there are many websites claiming that there are loopholes but are not available for free.

Not sure what to do as the fine is steep at £80 within 7 days and an additional £40 in 14 days, its just simply too much money!

The offence was commited by the driver of the vehicle not the owner/keeper. Unless you were clamped they could try and require you to pay damages for tresspass. These need to be reasonable and proportionate. However, unlike the police and local authorities these companies have no power to “force” you to reveal who the driver was at the time the alleged offence occcured. So pay nothing. They will then get the registered keepers details from the DVLA and you may end up with a solicitors letter suggesting you pay or end up in court with the additional costs incurred. Write back saying you were not the driver at the time the offence occured and are not therefore responsible. They may try and suggest you tell them who was driving. However you have no obligation to tell them. Just keep to that story and they have nobody to puruse for their ill gotten gains.

Of course, had you been clamped they have you at their mercy. But, a “ticket” on the windscreen is effectively useless.
