i would probably moan too if i got clamped,,

but i have a private drive running up to my house and as the local hospital has started charging for parking people have started parking in my drive,,i had one bloke threaten my wife after she politely asked him to move,(her actual words were "please dont park there this is a private drive").

the next day i stood waiting for him( i am 6'3 and weigh 18 stone)then took him up to my wife and made him write an appology,

we do have signs that say private drive but people will do anything just to get free parking,

i think i might get a clamp myself could pay for a holiday (thats what i call money saving)

You could also get a remote controlled gate pianeet if you have a drive so long :) that would keep them out.

Personally if it were my land, I'd have smashed your car up and if you'd decided to take it further, sue you for trespass.

Surely you'd be the one being sued for criminal damage... :rotfl:

we did consider it,but we share with four other houses ,so its not fair on all their visitors, plus postman, bin men etc,,

the ironic thing is, it is my work that rents the land to the hospital at a peppercorn rent as a goodwill gesture, yet they are now charging patients and staff to park on it,,(currently being looked at by solicitors),and at a guestimate are making about £200,000 a year

I personally had a clear case for appealing against a £117 clamping fine about 8 months ago.

However, the clamping company were ignorant and unwilling to co-operate. The enforcing body were contacted twice via email to no responce, and I tried many many many times to get through on the phone to no avail.

Your not going to see your money again I'm afraid ...

Makes it sound even more like extortion. The only way to potentially have any recompense is to let them tow your car away (but then do they have the power to crush your car? Surely not?! My guess is also if you try to take the case to court the court will be like "yeah yeah, someone else trying to get off with a fine after parking illegally".

Seems the best way is to have a wheel clamp removing tool kit in your boot ready for any clamps. Either that or put your own clamps on to prevent other people putting their clamps over the top and prevent theft of your car.

No, the easiest option is to not park on private land.;)

Ah but it has to be identified as private land ;) and obvious signs have to warn of possible clamping. There were signs but it seems in this instance they were by no means obvious.

Assuming a driver knows what is and isn't private land - that's why legislation states that signs must be clearly displayed. If this doesn't happen then there's no case for having to pay the clamp removal fee.

I wonder... a national network of Angle Grinder Men (and Women if applicable) :rotfl: :D

    Found this cached by google,
If you are in the South-East of England and find your vehicle wheel-clamped, then call the Angle-Grinder Phone hotline immeadiately on: 07984121043.

although https://www.anglegrinderman.org is down http://216.239.59.104/search?q=cache:ZnusfX_ZaBcJ:www.anglegrinderman.org/component/option,com_frontpage/Itemid,1/+site:www.anglegrinderman.org+anglegrinderman&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=2&gl=uk works. I wonder if he still does his work or if he has been arrested and charged for criminal damage.
