Surely the easiest thing to do, and it certainly requires less effort, is just not park on other peoples property.

Ah but it has to be identified as private land ;) . .

Not true, my drive is private land, I don't need to advertise the fact.;)

100% agree, these people that just dump their cars and then whinge when they get clamped are pathetic in my book.

    Serves them right.

But if your drive looked like any other road, and had no "private land" signs, I would quite rightly assume it was not private land.

If your driveway looked like this

I would assume it was your driveway and that I should not park there or obstruct it.

    However, if it looked like....

With no gate or identifying marks on the end, and I could park without causing an obstruction, I may park on your private land but I wouldn't realise it unless signs or markings said to the contrary. Plus if you can afford a driveway that looks like that you can afford a couple of hundred quid to put signs there and afford to be arrogant enough to keep the scum from the local area out :)

Are posts like this not wonderful for bringing out the tub-thumping, self-righteous, bigoted, do-gooders! Are there really still people out there that don't realise that there are unscrupulous organisations making a lot of money out of this legalised extortion, by deception and sharp practice? What will they say, I wonder, when it is their turn to fall victim to this scam. I'm not talking about the genuine private land owners who are at their wits end, of course, although I would never defend their right to simply immobilise my property and demand a ransom. So far, I have managed to avoid the neanderthals, but none of us are safe, unless of course you hardly use your vehicle and only go to the same places.....

Both of your photo's look very much like private land to me. You don't have a right to dump your car wherever you like just because the land owner hasn't put notices up.

If you get clamped for parking your car on private land ..tough.

    Live with it.

It will never happen to me because I respect the rights of ownership, I simply do not park my car on private land ... period.

I wonder how you would feel if you arrived home and found a bunch of squatters in your home?

You haven't been around much. Do you go outside? I have been down many a non-private singletrack road that looks pretty much like the second picture, and there were also roadsigns giving directions to places.

Not that it is any of your business, I have almost certainly travelled more than you ever will in your lifetime.

That aside, I live in a rural location, the public single track lanes do not have carefully manicured grass at the sides like in your photo, only private lanes are cared for to that degree. ( Photo 2 )...
  • Hello,

I was wondering whether someone can kindly advice me what I can do with a parking fine, that is issued by the wheel-clamping company?

There was a sign, but it doesnt state the times and the ticket was issued at 22:16, should I try and appeal or just simply pay up and be careful next time?

    I have looked online http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/driving/article1049167.ece?token=null&offset=24

also there are many websites claiming that there are loopholes but are not available for free.

Not sure what to do as the fine is steep at £80 within 7 days and an additional £40 in 14 days, its just simply too much money!
