    Further email received:

    "Mr Ninnut
May I first apologise on behalf of Openreach for the apparent delay in dealing with your query, which has now come to my unit for action.
I have tried to telephone earlier.
I have now left a message referring to this e-mail.
My responsibility is for Chargeable Alteration to the Openreach Network, but I need some further information before I can progress this issue, I have been advised from your correspondence that you have formally noticed Openreach to remove the pole and that Openreach in turn has counter-noticed yourself….

Could you possibly supply a copy of that counter-notice, so that I can determine who in Openreach is Responsible for resolving the issue?

If you need any further clarity please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Best of luck!

    Update:

Got home on Friday to find a note pushed through my door saying a surveyor had been to assess the pole and to mark up it's new proposed location.
Surveyor requested I call him on the number he left, which I have attempted to but keeps diverting straight to VM.
Quite happy with the new proposed location he has sprayed on the pavement anyway. Victory :D

  • It is so nice to get updates to long-running matters and very helpful to others in similar positions. Thank you Ninnut85 and Davesnave.

    Further update:
Surveyor finally came out to discuss the pole. He really was not keen on it being moved one bit. Kept pushing for me to sign a wayleave instead.
Kept saying there will be a reason why it was put on my property instead of on the footpath, i.e. high footpath usage (which there isn't, not now anyway). Said it would be unlikely they'd be able to move it anywhere further up or down the street as anyone would complain about it being put in front of their house instead.
He left rather grumpily stating he will report back his findings to his manager who's decision it will be on whether the pole will be moved. He stated as he left that it's likely if they do agree to move it, it will be at cost to me!
I guess I will have to wait and see what happens

    "Dear Mr Ninnut,
Thank you for contacting Openreach with reference to the above complaint. The local operations manager has fully investigated your complaint and his response is as follows: We understand that Mr Ninnut has kindly agreed a new pole position with survey officer. Once the pole is in situ then duct and cabling work will commence and then the pole will be removed from Mr Ninnut's driveway.
Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused and extend these apologies to your customer if appropriate
Should you have any additional issues that arise please contact complaints@openreach.co.uk and quote the case reference number with the details of the query and we will deal accordingly. **please do not send to my personal email only as it is not monitored by the Openreach Complaints mailbox**

    Many Thanks

    At last! Congratulations. :T

I think our stories illustrate how persistent one has to be in dealing with Openreach/BT. Slippery as a box of eels.

In contrast, I was visited yesterday by a representative of Western Power Distribution, who asked our permission to replace poles and upgrade the line in a few weeks time. The first thing he did was give his phone number and personal email, so that if we were not happy with any part of the work, we'd have an instant point of contact.

He also offered us the redundant poles, which are worth quite a bit as gateposts, barn supports etc.

    Such a difference! :)

Good to know they are going to move it - did they say where they are moving it too?
All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)

They are moving it to the edge of the pavement, in line with the border between mine and my neighbours properties.
