The receipt and packaging will not be enough proof as they were from before any type of 4g was in the UK, and they relate to the then international standard for 4g. The UK still doesn't have a proper 4g standard but instead has LTE, just because we all call it 4g it isn't. This has all been explained to you in previous posts but you don't want to believe it.
Question: if there was no 4G standard in the UK why was it being sold as a 4G LTE model? Why didn't Apple just sell it as 3G and this situation wouldn't have arisen? Answer: because they were trying to outdo the competitors - except it blew up in their face!
Would this have happened if Steve Jobs was alive? I doubt it - he was too much of a maverick.0 -
Unfortunately it is one of the common accusations some people make on internet forums when someone posts something they do not like or that does not agree with their point of view, constructive advice or debate is something they appear incapable of accepting.
No, just trying to encourage transparency.0 -
Right, if you're so sure you're correct, then take them to court.
At best you'll win because Western can't be ar*ed to rock up to court0 -
maybe, maybe not - either way it's my decision.0

No, just trying to encourage transparency.
No you are getting stroppy because I don't agree with you so trying to discredit me and my opinion. You are the one looking for help therefore you are the one who needs to be transparent if you want that help. I have no need whatsoever to tell you anything about myself, my career or anything else, I am not the one asking for help.
I have so far tried to answer every question you have posted, unless other posters have already given the relevant answer.
You so far have answered very few questions and are to busy quoting and picking apart responses you don't agree with.
I asked some questions that are relevant back on page 1 post 14 that are as yet still unanswered, these answers would make a difference to whether you have a case to argue or not.
You asked how much it would cost to sue the shop, being too lazy to do a google search for yourself I took time out of my day to do the search for you, I then gave you two links and a brief description outlining the process and the costs and possible scenarios.
You haven't even had the decency to thank that post, you have just accused me of working for the company, I should go back and delete the helpful post and leave you to do the research yourself but I will leave it there in case any other posters ever need the same help. All you did was pick out the the one bit you didn't like and argue it.0 -
Apple said from launch date that the 4g would not work in the UK.
OP how did you know in the first place that the ipad came as a 4g model? 4g of any sort wasn't available at all in the UK at the time and there were no official launch dates set in stone, also it has been widely publicised that very few areas are having a 4g roll out and there are only a handful of places with it. 5g is likely to be rolled out before the majority of the UK gets 4g.
Why would you specifically choose a 4g model to be run on 4g without knowing that you could even use it in your area?
I work for an Apple Authorised Reseller myself. At the time, we as a company were sold out of The New iPad. Although we as a business sell iPads I work in another department so my level of knowledge at the time may have not been as good as some of the Computer guys.
The packaging, receipt and POS all billed "WIFI + 4G" so it was taken to be future proof. Whether or not the sales guy said anything to me about 4G is neither here or there. If it was that important it should have been written down on the receipt.0 -

So how was your store advising people purchasing I-pads at the time then?
Did you not ask YOUR computer guys....
Stores employ people from cleaners right up to managing directors... All can claim to work at a company.
If it was that important it should have been written down on the receipt.
The receipt is just to show what you have bought.
NOT to give you all the technical specs of a product. That is down to what maybe on or in the books in the box.
Why do you thinkThe packaging, receipt and POS all billed "WIFI + 4G" so it was taken to be future proof
The market place has been littered with products that people have bought thinking they were future proof.
Perfect example is the humble TV.....
Nice hole in the foot with that post :rotfl:Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

So it was through your own job that you knew 4g models existed and what 4g was? The only reason you bought from somewhere else was because your shop was out of stock? Just because you took it to be future proof doesn't mean that it was, you didn't understand the technology, you made an assumption, it has backfired and has taken you more than a year to realise. Whether or not the sales guy said anything to you about 4g is the only thing that is relevant.
What did you want them to write on the receipt? This model works with 4g, 4g doesn't exist in the UK yet and we don't know if/when it ever will.
So Western Computers never actually lied to you and told you what 4g was and that it would work in the UK, it was either through your own research whether through work or personally or under the advice of somebody you work with, one of the "computer guys"?
What about every iPad your company sold that clearly had the box labelled as 4g and would have 4g written on the receipt, they were all lied to too.
If you take this to court and win, you are going to open the floodgates for others to do the same, in the current financial climate no company can afford to defend or pay out on a high number of claims, that includes whatever company you work for.
I don't see how you can blame another shop for a lack of your own knowledge/understanding or that of other people where you work.0 -
Surely if you work for an AAR, your store would have been in receipt of the direct communication from Apple about removing 4G Advertising etc.?0

Well that all depends on what the OP does.....
They admit they do not work in the computer side.... So that leaves many areas from cleaner to cook to managing director and anything in between.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0
